I posted this in the KV, but didn't get any response and I would like to fix this before the week starts. Sorry Blake.

My headlight was dead the other night (9:30PM) when I tried to head home on my 2005 XB12Scg. I was pretty pissed because I only have 5500 miles on it but I didn't think much of it as I was able to ride home with my high beam.

The next morning as I was leaving for work I notice my high beam isn't working. I stopped for bulbs on my way into work and replaced them in the parking lot at lunch.

Everything seemed fine when I headed home that afternoon. Within a mile of leaving work, I pulled up behind a black pickup truck, where I noticed my low beam was out again. I switched to high beam, which was working and when I got home it was dead too!

I checked the wiring and the fuse, but can't seem to find anything wrong. To make matters worse, I can't find the service manual or my VDSTS.

I shouldn't have blown 4 bulbs in less than 24 hours. Any ideas?

have you checked the resistance on the grounded wires from the bulbs?

I'd guess you have a bad ground connection causing the bulbs to burn out.

OR like I said in the other post your voltage regulator could be crapping out on you like it did me when my headlights kept blowing.
Had it replaced under warranty and then put two new highbeam housings in and have been running it on high ever since.

Diablobrian, thanks for responding, and
Buelltroll, thanks for responding to both of the posts.

I started the bike and probed the headlight wiring harness with a volt meter and @ 2500 RPMS I was at 17.5 volts and climbing proportional to the RPMS.

I guess that's it. I wonder how much they cost? I guess I'll call Daves.

Thanks.

I had problems with my headlight also. Power to the low beam just went out. I checked the wire as far as I could till it went under the air box. My temp/permanant fix was to make a y cable and get power from the high beam. Since I took the reflector out I get two low beams when I turn the lights on

If the voltage is going that high park the bike until you get a new voltage regulator.

A lot of components including your ECM can get toasted by voltage spikes.

And starter.... don't ask me how I know or why it would take 18 days to get said starter....

Yeah, when I saw the voltage that high I killed the ignition and parked it in my folks garage. I had no way to get home so my brother let me use his Honda 919 for the week. He isn't using it right now so I will.

Thanks for all the help.
