There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about fitting a larger tail unit that would give more room for the taller riders amongst us. This is one I've just done for Phil Read on our race bike using an old Suzuki GSXR 1000 K1 seat unit. It fits using the standard quick release fittings on our Innovative Motorcycles lightweight subframe, but would also fit using the stock fasteners and stock subframe. I still need to trim the undertrail slightly to complete it, but I'm quite pleased. It slopes back a a greater angle than the stock type XBR seta unit and gives around 2" more room length wise to make it easier to tuck down behind the screen.

Matt was being clever in more ways than one. I bet there will be a couple of XBRRs wearing similar tails with the larger riders in CCS/ASRA soon! Good Job Matt, I'm sure there are some people looking at this very closely! |

good call .. i was wondering abt fitting a jap tail to my xb racebike i am building for next year .. the buell seat is too restrictive for track for me (5'9") & i am a shorty! need a good couple of inches (4-6" me thinks & i am not quoting vital stats here - ;7) to slide back so i can get under the screen .. |

You have the ST screen Paul? there is a reason a lot of the thunderbike guys use them. It makes a bigger hole to tuck into on the bike. |

Is that tube sub-frame built by you or a aftermarket?- lets see the whole bike, I would like to see too. I dont race or anything, but the tail looks that good the whole thing probably looks great. |

Finally I find a product that fits a small person like me perfectly. It's taken 3 decades of time, countless hrs shopping in the kids shoe section, asking employees at the gap to climb the shelves to get my pants Tiling my motorcycles at 30 degree angles so I can touch the ground and what do I constantly hear on Badweb???? Not that it matters, as you yourself said that the factory allowed both Rich Cronrath and Hal's to copy parts in order to fund their racing. Purely out of interest, why don't you use this subframe on the XBRR instead of the stock type one I have seen in pictures? Surely this would be lighter? Or was that an early XBRR prototype that I have seen in the photographs?
If anyone is thinking of using this subframe on the Ulysses or XB12SS frames then it needs to be slightly adapted to take accoubnt of the slightly wider frame (The inside shoulder of the upper mounting points need grinding down around 5mm each side). |

Anonmyous The sub-frame in question was designed and constructed by Mike Morris at no time did Buell send Innovative any XBs’ or parts that even come close to resembling that part. All XBS’ that came from the factory had stock sub-frames. This is the second time I’ve seen this exact quote in a post from an anonymous. “Copied from the lightweight part given to him by the factory” It seems that it is used anytime Innovative and aftermarket race parts are mentioned in a post. If you’re going to hide behind the cloak of Anonmyous get your facts straight and know what your posting to. Jeff |

It is STILL raining, but I have at last got around to fully installing the new seat unit on the race bike, and managed to get a few shots of the whole (unclothed) bike with the new unit fitted.

slick primary setup . Is that one of your products ? where can i get one? It's made by Free Spirits and may be available some time soon, although it will not be cheap. It does require some work to the motor in the way of welding up oilways, changing bearings and putting in a new gearbox oil drain though. It saves 5kg (11 lbs) off the weight of the stock primary and makes clutch action and shifting very light and smooth. The best bit though is the noise it makes Think jet fighter and you won't be far wrong |
