I don't think I could ever sell my X1. I think I can now let go of my '79 sportster but I don't see myself without the X1. This Sunday, I got it to RI, CT, NY, MA, NY(again), VT, MA(again) Big dumb fun pointless loop for no reason! |

Have you tried cycletrader.com? I think it's a better venue for local purchases than other online sources. Oftentimes people will pay more for a local purchase than ebay, etc. Not sure if you'd recoup your asking price for parts. |

You'll have a tough time getting to 5,400. The biggest component is the engine, sell that and the rest goes quickly. I priced and asked for preliminary offers on the M2 parts once or twice and got to over 1500 without any offers on the engine. The funny thing is that the chopper/custom builders will buy a Buell and use just the engine and sell the rest of the bike off. I'd suggest rummaging around on some of the chopper discussion sites and see what sort of interest you can generate. Or take a gamble and chopperize it yourself and see if you come out ahead or behind. If you're looking to swap it off for anything then look at boats, they're a bear to sell sometimes, harder than selling a used Buell it seems, so some of their owners will almost give the boat away, and occasionally you'll find one who'd consider a bike in trade. Fast cash, price the bike at $3,500 and see what happens. But for $5,400 you have to play the angles and options. I'll probably trade in the M2 when the time comes and take what I get. |

I probably shouldn't tell you this, but in the not too distant past someone posted a Buell or Sportster powered quadrunner. There are pics on the site here of it someplace. Bodywork usually sells very quickly around here, usually. |

You know that's funny - I would buy it for $3500 in a heartbeat.... (In fact I just did buy a '99 for $3500) I think that if you dropped your price a little that you would sell it very quickly. |

I'm in the process of building a mutant. I had one before that I purchased and wasn't 100% what I wanted but I wanted to make sure it'd fit me and such so I sold that, got an Ss, didn't really like that, sold that, and am building what I really want. A bad ass 250 rear buell mutant chopper. =0D But as far as parting it out, just as an example... My friend Jeff built a mutant last year which had a big feature in Iron Works magazine and was on the cover a little too in the corner. He's helping me build mine and answer my questions and such. But he's building 2 more, he just recently picked up a Cyclone, and parted it out for 2,000 bucks and still has some parts left over to sell. He's still got the forks, motor, & some other pieces he's keeping for the chopper. I just picked up a low mileage (3500 miles) 1999 X1 for 4500 bucks. Has full force exhaust, PM wheels, etc. and the only parts I'm keeping are the forks and motor, maybe not even the forks as I have to see what I'm doing for the front end still. I'll get at least 2500 for the parts I don't use. |
