My speedometer sensor went out on my 2001 M2 last weekend and I ordered a replacement (they didn't have one in stock) from the local dealer for $55.00. I didn't think that was too bad of a price. So... I continued to drive this bike to work and back without the ability to exactly tell how fast I was going. You all know where this is headed... so yesterday morning as I was on my way to work, driving in the slow lane with a bunch of other traffic, the local cop picks me out of the crowd to pull over and make an example out of. This really burns my ass. I explained that my speedometer isn't working and I have a part on order to fix it but I am sure he thought I was making up an excuse. I think I may take this up with the judge - he might have a little mercy on me when I show the receipt for the speedometer sensor being ordered three days earlier. Oh, the man said I was going 71 in a 60, I don't know about that as it sure didn't feel like it. Just going to work to make a living and this shi.. has to happen. |

Happened to me once in my lifted Blazer I used to have. Towing a trailer, speedo says I am doing 60...cop pulls me over and ANGRILY writes me up for 70. When I try to argue/discuss it with him ....well anyhow, I just paid the ticket went to Online traffic school and moved on. On a side note on the sensor...seems like I read a thread about being able to fix, or do something with them...I don't know, maybe someone will chime in here...or maybe I just need more coffee.... |

Make sure you tell the judge that you were in the slow lane going with the flow of traffic. That is supposedly one of the best mitigating reasons you can give. Bret |
