The creepy people are fine, I count them among some of my most valued friends. It's being caught in the various crossfires that appear at heavy creepy aggregetion points that bring me down... I'm just looking for neutral ground (go see Ann Coulters current article today... www.anncoulter.com) |

I knew you were joking, but I also thought you were making an excellent point. No offense taken! Thats twice in the same thread you made a perfectly clear point succinctly and with humor. Don't tell the tech writers guild or they will come gunning for you! |

Henrik, as i recall from the first BRATPAC rally, it was your charm, good looks and undeniable Danish godliness that paved the way for free beer (and most excellent service) during our stay in Franklin. in other words, we NEED you, brother!!! traipsing into a fine southern establishment with any of the REST of this motley crude leading the way, especially that scruffy little feller from Indiana what's putting this whole shindig on, is only likely to get us all tossed out on our collective arses. i implore you, if not for the sake of your OWN personal and professional sanity, to get your bad self down to Franklin for the opening ceremonies. free beer - and thus MY personal and professional sanity - hangs in the balance. as Breedlove would say, "Think about it." I am and will further "think about it". Maybe Breedlove will have us over for some of his smoked meats - now that's good eatin'. I still tell that "free beer" story to any one I can corner for long enough Walking in to a restaurant/bar after a long day of riding and be told "no, we don't sell beer ..." You could hear the smacking of jaws on tables over the loud music. And then the lovely creature continues "... but we can give it to you for free ..." Now THATS what I'm talking about! Plans are afoot to make the trip happen for me - unfortunately the final decision is not mine to make ... I'll keep you posted. Henrik |

Henrik, we have some pretty special things going on for the first night get-together and it does include Mike Breedlove. Nope, I won't ever forget the free beer either. I wonder if they had any regrets after we emptied their cooler? We'd do just about anything to have you repeat... well short of canceling the ride and all the other standard disclaimers... |

Wondering if this adventure is still a go? My husband and I are considering participating a few days. We'll ride out on the Uly and I can drive a chase truck for a day or two. Thanks for any info you can share. Just trying to set up child care and time off from work. |

I'm spending a considerable amount of time trying to get my bike ready, and haven't heard that anything to indicate BRATPAC II has been canceled. I'll check with Jim (JB2), but I'm fairly certain we're still a go. Henrik |

http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/ This is the campground that Duck referred to. If you're heading that way, my Dad has a place just 11 miles from there and the roads are excellent. If this is a path of travel, Carlos can probably plan out a route. |

BRATPAC II is still a go folks. I have been neck deep in two land speed racing projects and I'm not gonna be done until the first part of August. Then I can apply my attention and effort towards the ride. We'll probably form and e-mail group in the next few weeks just to get and keep everyone on the same page. One of the goals for this ride was to not overplan it. Follow the front wheel has led me to many places I'd never have been any other way. Having said that we will have a general plan of travel that's listed in the first post of this topic. I really like the idea of someone or more than one person step and take a day and choose the route. While the general direction is northbound on the BRP there's much to see and ride just off either side of the ridge. More to come... |

If there are spots where it'd be a good idea to make reservations ahead of time, we should get those planned out. If for example we're staying at Pisgah Inn those rooms are sometimes tricky to get. Also, if we're staying in Franklin for a few days it might be good to have reservations. Henrik |

Henrik is right and I've squirreled away a few minutes to start posting the details. This information covers the first four nights of lodging. Those of you joining us can reference the BRATPAC ride when making your reservations. Without having a headcount most places are hesitant to offer discounts anymore but they are grouping us together if you make your call soon enough. I'll post more details soon as I can. Sept 4th, 2006 Franklin Motel Sept 5th, 2006 Franklin Motel Sept 6th, 2006 Franklin Motel Sept 7th, 2006 Mt Pisgah Inn Franklin Motel 800-433-5507 Mt. Pisgah Inn 828-235-8228 Both places require a credit card to hold the room. Franklin Motel will hold your room without billing your card and you may change or cancel your reservation up to six hours before your reservation. Mt. Pisgah Inn will charge your card when you make the reservation and you must give two weeks notice to change or cancel and still receive a full refund. All of these places have different rules so be sure to ask questions when you make the call. JB2 |

Speaking of the run.. Does anyone know where you'll be staying in Front Royal? Also, any idea how many miles you folks may feel like doing that Friday? I forget if anyone mentioned to me.. Do I keep it under 200 miles? Under 150? ... Less? Just trying to plot out your little tour of the area roads. Don't think there'll be time to hit all the good ones, but we can at least get a few of them in.. |

Peter, Dunno where we'll be staying when we get to Front Royal on the evening of the 13th. After the seasonal crowds are gone we can stay just about anyplace. I'm not sure how many people are staying in Front Royal through the 15th. The 13th would be the ideal day for a bonus ride around Front Royal. We'll only have just a few miles left of the Skyline to complete when we wake up the on the morning of the 13th. I had originally thought we might hang out for a day in Front Royal on the 14th but a pressing issue has landed on our doorsteps. A few of us may head west first thing on the 14th but even that is pending. Is there a chance you can ride with us on the 13th and put together a few "off Skyline" excursions as well? Any suggestions on lodging? Henrik, Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I've been in a full tuck trying to get some projects done myself. I've got a new scooter in garage with only 500 miles on it but it's pointed towards NC and come the first of September I'm ducking out of everyday life for a coupla weeks. |

I won't be at Front Royal. If I go I'll have to peel off on the 9th and head back to the city. Must be back at work on the 11th. New bike eh??? Care to share some more info? Henrik (Message edited by Henrik on August 09, 2006) |

Doc, Well I never fell in love with the ST1300. Great tool no doubt. Awesome touring machine but it did nothing for the soul. I'd considered another full on sport bike. Snail 'bout had me talked into a 'Busa but it just didn't fit. I looked at Harleys but... been there, done that. Last stop was the Victory dealer after being being bikeless for 3 weeks. I snagged a new Vegas and haven't looked back. First time I've been in love with a bike since the S2. Anxious to get on the road and really learn it but if the 500 break in miles were any indication it's a keeper. |

Victory Vegas eh. Haven't seen one in person, but it looks like a great bike. Gets great reviews too. And as long as you're happy with it, that's all that counts. I thought for a second you'd gotten that bobbed '57 sportster you mentioned awhile back and that the 500 miles was "after last rebuild" ... Henrik |

Doc, Came pretty close to buying that Sporty and a coupla different Panheads on eBay but I got outbid on all of them. I didn't picture myself on a cruiser style bike but after one spin on the Vic I rethought my thinkin'. Having said that, I'm seriously wantin' a 600 sportbike to fulfill my lean angels. JB2 |

Jim, Let's see.. I can probably get Thursday (14th) off, but I don't think I'd be able to do anything on the 13th (I'm off the week following and heading to VIR and area surrounding). I can plot out a few roads for ya and if you can't be around for the 14th, I'll just send 'em to ya and you can 'self guide'.. Not such a hot idea for a lot these to be done in the dark though, if you haven't seen them before. |
