Aaron, is the needle in the dyno jet kit the same as the sportster needle n65c, if not maybe that is the problem, other than that the jets are the same as above. |

Last time I put in a dynojet kit, it had an adjustable needle. The N65C is not adjustable. So it's a whole different piece. |

Burnout,i had a Dyno jet Thunderslide kit in my 2000 M2.The dyno jet needle,is alot longer and skinnier. After have a hard time getting it set up,via dyno,I uninstalled it.I did the recommendations at the top of this page,no hesitation,no flatspots, runs great. The dynojet needle had about 5 grooves on it for adjustment. |

Hi I am the owner of Buell X1(2001). Bought it 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately there are only 2 Buells in Russia. One is mine and the second is a demo bike(2000 X1) at Harley's dealer. The dealer is experienced in Harley but Buell is new to them. My Buell broke after only 80 miles. "Check engine" turns on, runs like it's on one cylynder. Changed temp.sensor, oxygen sensor - no effect. Seems like the reset of the TPS is required. But the dealer has the problem establishing connection between Scanalizer and my X1. We've got a Buell software cartridge for Scanalizer (part B-41325-99). When connected both to my X1 and to demo bike, Scanaliser shows "no response" sign. Any Ideas about the problem with Scanalizer? Loki did you go lean after putting the Boss on? I have the Boss on with the race ecu but haven't put the forcewinder on yet.just wondering. Oh ya,gotta love that sound.Still like to try a Force exh. system. Gear. |

Gear, Cool sound aint it? Nothing quite has that pitch at idle or opened up. The BOSS was originally designed for an X1 which had the race ECU and a Sidewinder on it. The pipe was tuned to return about 9hp that was lost with the stock pipe and a Sidewinder installed. You might even pick up a couple with it too. You shouldn't have a problem of it going to lean. The race-ECU will compensate for it. On my M-Duece I finally had to re-jet the carb. The difference between Florida and Detroit could be felt and seen. A little sooty and a drop in mpg with the move north. Now it is all better.... Now that that is done and I have installed the Racewinder(cover) the lokk of the Force is more sedated. The carbon Fiber though really is a standout. Just drop a line if you need any further info. I am looking forward to a dyno run in the near future. As this will be my baseline from here on out with this motor. Loki (m2loki@bignet.net) |

Andrey, Did your dealer try the Scanalyzer on the other bike? If it works on the other bike the data link connector on the bike should be checked for opens. Page 4-13 of the service manual says, 'If Scanalyzer reads "No Response" with the ignition key switch turned ON (engine stop switch at RUN with the engine off), check serial receive data wire for an open or short to ground between data link terminal 1 (Lt GN/R wire) and ECM.' I hope your dealership has the service manual...Robr |

Andrey: There are three different cables used to connect the scanalyzer to various motorcycles. Early big twins 95 to 98 evo-efi , 99 to 00 tc88-efi This cable has been obsoleted and is replaced by the latest cable which can be used with the scanalyzer alone or with the high$$$ Digital Tech. The other cable is used on carbureted big twins 99 & up and on Buell D.D.F.I. bikes. Jeff |

Robr, Jeff, hello It seems to be the problem with the software cartridge. After many attempts the dealer finally established contact between Scanalizer and the bike, checked for errors and even started to zero the TPS, but then the the connection failed. Now we're waiting for a new cartridge. Andrey |

Anyone, I just installed a force XR-2 Sidewinder Air Filter on my 2000 X1 but know I have this awful rattle when I rev it up. Sounds like it is comming from the force but if I hold it so that it doesn't move you still here the rattle. I installed the force like the instructions saya and remove the bracket around the intake where the force connects. I think that this is my promble but would gladly accept any comments or advice. I got my force used, so had no instructions, but it seemed pretty obvious that you DO use the bracket... the bracket (with gasket) gets sandwiched between the forcewinder and the manfold if I recall correctly. At least that's how I put it on. Don't think the carb would last long trying to support the weight of the air cleaner whilst bouncing around like a paintshaker... Bill |

Rocklane, As Aaron has already questioned. Did you remove the black bracket that goes from your cylinder breathers to your carb? If you did remove it you need to put it back on. How loud is this rattle you refer to? Does it sound like an old Chevy with bad lifters? if that is the sound I hate to tell you but it's normal. The stock air-box masked much of that rattle but a force allows it to be heard in all it's glory!! Dan |

Everyone, Thanks to the replies to my post I figured that the instructions were wrong first time I ever followed any first. The sound is not engine noise because I had already removed the Plastic box and installed a Hypercharger that did not make the rattling noise. I will try putting the bracket back on Sunday when I have time. Rock |

Need help. '99 X1 has Vance&Hines Pipe and Forcwinder intake. Haven't had any problems with bike until this spring. When cruising in 1st gear at about 10mph and then grabbing a handfull of throttle it would cut out and stumble,(didn't happen very often) Now when going to take off or when gassing on it hard in any gear it will cut out and stumble and backfire real bad, but when just cruising it runs fine. When setting still can blip the throttle and it will hesitate and kind of backfire a little and then wrap up. Bike has 3700 miles on it, new plugs and wires. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. |

Could anyone please advice if to keep the CV carb (modified) or to get an alternative carb? In case of switching, what would be a good choice? Would porting the heads and raising the compression influence the decision. I run a standard '98 S1 with race ECM, Buell race exhaust system and Buell "sportster" airbox. Besides that I've got a N2O system which, by the way is great fun but does not effect the choice of carb. /Bjorn, Sweden |

jacquezzz, assuming that your engine lite is not on, check your air filer and intake manifold for air leaks...your problem sounds a little like a lean cough. |

Bjorn: Welcome to Badweb! Always nice to have a new European friend here. Mikuni HSR42's are real popular over here. They work real nice, easy to adjust, good throttle response, and generally add a small amount of horsepower to an otherwise stock bike. With good breathing mods, they bring a little more to the party. In my book, they're worth it just because they make changing jets so easy! Again, welcome, and congrats on the S1, it's a terrific bike and destined to be a classic. AW |

Tommyboy Thanks for your reply. My engine light is not on and I thought the same thing about the air leak around the manifold but everything there is good. I did disconect my battery tonight for awhile and then started it and it ran good with throttle command,(didn't get a chance to ride it yet though because had my daughter tonight). I was woundering that if because my packing in my muffler was burning out and the exhaust was flowing more freely that the module wasn't used to the different conditions(I have noticed that the exhaust it getting alot louder). I will let you know tomorrow after I get to ride it. |

Jacquezzz, I am having the same problem you are having, read post, july 18th 6:45pm. my 2001 m2 has the forcewinder and the v&h pipe, when i jump on the gas at low rpms i get nothing, being that yours is efi this tells me it is not in my carb, your efi should adjust for this problem. my bike has 3000 miles on it and HD said warrenty will not cover this because the after market parts is the problem. They said the only way to get rid of the flat spot is to put it on a dyno.at $200 out of my pocket. And still it may not go away. I went for help at a biker bar and more than once i was told to get rid of the force air cleaner. A friend of mine has an s1 with a cf air cleaner when we get a chance we are going to switch the air cleaners and see if my problem goes away and if it starts on his, i will let you know asap. INPUT guys, these two flat spotted buell men need HELP! |

1. The line about dumping the Force intake is total BS! I think I see more force intakes on Buells than the stock airbox, and they all run fine. 2. Try the normal carb mods listed at the top of this page. 3. Check for intake leakage around intake manifold seals. 4. Dyno time should not cost you $200! Any competent mechanic should be able to dial your carburation and timing in within one hour (closer to $100 total). |

Rode bike today and it was alot better, only sputtered a couple of times and that was when I first started riding it, then it never did it again. Has anyone had any problems with the stock O2 sensor, and which is the best one to buy to replace it. |

My 00 M2 has the Yodude intake/tech tip jetting. It was pinging in the 5500-6000 rpm range. Air temp was approx 85-90 deg/high humidity. Buell tech said at that humidity the bike is trying to burn alot of moisture in air. He put it on the dyno. He ended up backing off the timing about 1-2 degrees. Bike gained approx. 1.5 hp with zero ping. So check either timing or maybe it's a weather thing ? |

99 S3T - "Stumbles" at constant throttle at low constant speed most all of the time. I'ts usually worse at less throttle and never a problem above 3500 rpm. This used to be intermittant. For the last 4 weeks it's been consistantly bad. Dealer said they couldn't reproduce the problem to fix it. Switched to race ecm and the new cooler plugs. No change to stumble problem. This is a very momentary stumble quick enough to highlight the drive chain/gear/belt slop so I've already checked the chain and belt. It "feels" like the ecm can't make up it's mind. Until yesterday: I started out in 65F temperature instead of the usual 75F+. I also shut off the engine/ignition during warmup briefly (forgot to check oil). First 15 minutes getting out of the sub division was great. No stumbling. And it seemed to have more power at low revs, though I've never had a problem there when accelerating even very moderately. The stumble was back about another 15 minutes later. I think shutting off and starting again made the problem go away briefly early this season but the effect was not reproducable. I warm up about 3-5 minutes and check for warm to the touch rear middle box before leaving every time to avoid gasket leaks. I need to try to sort out weather vs shutoff during warmup over the next week but I'd like input on these symptoms along the way. Thanks. |

Oxygen sensor? Intake temperature sensor? TPS? Shouldn't the shop be able to tell from their scanalyzer if any of your DDFI elements are misbehaving? Sheesh! Did they put it on the dyno to get it heated up? |
