Just when everyone was predicting Buell would finally get some American-made competition in the form of a Polaris/KTM merger, .this |

Where do you see Polaris/Victory in the future? Do you think that they will ever enter the sport bike market? |

Interesting. BTW, their 07 models come out on August 2. I still think that home-brewed Victory powered track bike (photos were posted a year or two ago) was cool. Supposedly it was built by a couple of Victory engineers who bought a Vegas test mule and modified it. |

It does say that the technology sharing, and distribution agreements were still intact, even though the merger was off. |

Sad, as a long time Vic and KTM owner, KTM + Vic offered a good mix for both ( models complimented each other) and boosted both's issues with dealer networks!! MB (Message edited by mb182 on July 31, 2006) |

Ahhh, they probably finally found out what an a-hole S. Pierer is... Truly one of the most hated people in the motorsports business. |

In my best JimA4Media cut n paste: http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/15149264.htm Polaris Industries Inc.'s hopes for majority ownership of a European motorcycle maker were dashed this week when KTM Power Sports AG said it doesn't want to take the companies' relationship any further. Medina-based Polaris still owns 25 percent of the Austrian manufacturer and plans to continue partnering with KTM on a number of projects. "This wasn't a decision that was really based around numbers," said Tom Tiller, chief executive of Polaris. "This was done for internal reasons on their part." Stefan Pierer, KTM's CEO, said, "We wish to remain in control of KTM and for KTM to remain an independent company." |

Ha! KTM continues its ego-drive towards orange black oblivion... just like its f-up with the Long Way Round boys: KTM punted a perfect opportunity for global brand/product placement. |

Don't forget the MotoGP deal with Kenny Roberts' team that failed |

well the boss may well be a flaming rectal cavity, but they build some damn fine machines., my KTM 250SXF is the fastest bike in its class. My next street bike will likely be a KTM 950R super enduro. |

when H-D tried to buy KTM a while back - it came down to the same issues - management disagreement and personality conflicts. |

I wonder why H-D tries to buy KTM and not Cannondale. (Message edited by glitch on August 01, 2006) |
