Ghalsey, Check out the knowledge vault for the helmet stuff, under gear or apparel I think...we've had lots of helmet discussions... in fact, the knowledge vault or the "Search" tool will help you with everything you're asking about, as I believe all topics have been discussed recently! Ghalsey, If your on a budget, or just want to do something yourself in your spare time, check out the knowledge vault (KV) they have tips for hacking it off yourself. If you don't want/or don't have the means of doing it yourself then check out the sponsor section. Special Ops has an inexpensive swap option, or HillBilly-Motors has some very sweet tail sections available. Whatever your choice... welcome to BADWEB. |

Hi everyone I have owned a '99 X1 since 2000 and love it. I live and ride in Florida and enjoy having a unique bike, especially with almost all hogs here. Currently looking to get really radical with the X1 and build a metal tank and complete frame reveal, tube rear clip with twin road race exhausts up high. Comments and suggestions welcome before I fire the TIG up and modify chromemoly tubes. I do some hardcore electronics for cars and bikes and always enjoy technical questions. I hand built the wiring for the first 50 Panoz Roadsters in the early 90's and can work out most anything on 12 volts. Thanks for adding me to the group - see you on the road. www.j3p.com/buell |

Jon, Welcome, Your X1 history reads like mine. I just finished the rear brake rebuild and went for a test ride only to have the dreaded rocker box leak begin. Your X1 will look great naked, I would reconsider the high exhaust. I love the fact that in the stock location the exhaust poses little in the way of heat problems and is out of the way. How about splitting the tip to exit on both sides? Or two separate pipes in the stock location. Keep us posted. And how about posting that profile pic in the Hot Chicks on buells topic? Enjoy the bike. SteveH |

Steve, Thanks for the nice welcome. I just ordered a VDSTS today and will be tuning my Power Commander II soon. I looked for a Hot Chicks area and did not see that - am I missing something? I am a photographer quite often and have some nice Hot Chicks to photograph with my bike now and then. I have been planning a really serious X1 departure for a while. I want to make the engine V stand out so strong that the typical Harley owner HAS to see it. This means the goofy-looking rounded frame brace has to go, and so does the cast aluminum bolted-on rear seat frame. I am considering conventional-looking swept back drag pipes from an 88 inch bike, with the appropriate internal restriction to get the backpressure right. I have considered moving the rear shock and dropping the bike... will likely go to a springer seat and a conventional looking fatbob tank with a Harley dash and speedo... I'm in the idea mode for now, pondering making the styling look more Harley and not concerning myself with anything else. I am inspired by the Confederate bikes, and the old Harley cafe racers, the XLR's, the lowrider, and the tube frame Ducatis. I might go pure rice rocket and do the high upswept exhausts anyway, and yet do the engine reveal and toss all the plastic. Some of you guys have done M2's and exposed the rear spring which is too cool. Thanks again for the nice welcome! Jon P |

Been a lurker for awhile now. I've been a Buell fan for a long time, but never a Buell owner. I hope to change this soon. I am in the market to purchase a Ulysses. I need a nice two up bike to compliment my SV650 (track/quick street tool). I tried to use the SV as a touring bike but, for two up it stinks. One up...I can muster it out. This place so far has plenty of info and it's making me...or is it letting me...waste a crap load of time at work. I test rode an '07 Uly at Mid-Ohio's AMA Vintage Days and I must say... I am in love. The local dealer has a left over 06 in Black that I am tempted to go and see. But I also wouldn't mind getting an '07 from Dave and riding the blasted thing home to break her in. |

Michael1, What's up!? I used to ride a SV650 too, just before my Ulysses. I do not miss her - nice nike for customize, but not for ride. My Uly rocks! |

Michael: Cool beans and we're darn glad to have you here. Feel free to ask SV650 questions too....they stay pretty well hidden, but there are a couple fairly competent folks hanging out here who race them. The U;y would be a stellar two-up tourer. If you are in the area of Mid-Ohio, don't miss Steve Crevier's performance on the new (recently podiumated) Buell XBRR RAcing Motorcycle. Welcome, Court |

Hey everybody, just wanted to say hello. Just got a 2004 XB12S with 1800 miles on it for $5900. I figured it was a pretty good deal so I thought I would jump on it. Runs great and not a scratch on it. Can't wait to do some performance mods. Happy riding!! |

Welcome Taylor! I just got the same exact bike as you. Sounds like you got a nice deal on yours too. Congrats and have fun with it. I can barely keep myself off of it. And when I'm not on the bike, I've usually got this site up! |

Guess I should take a moment and re-introduce myself. Been a registered member of BadWEB for a few years - just under a different username (SonomaCyclone). Constant reader - occasional poster. Never cared much for my username since I created the account, finally got around to resolving it. ...so, Hi, I'm Bryan. You'll be seeing me around. |

Hi, I bought a Xb9s 2003 a month ago. I love it, beside the fact that my rear wheel bearings were walking away from the bike. It looks that the previous owner did not upgrade the bearings, orange seal,,, right? I Bought in Abelene Texas, drove back right away to Houston, one shoot. Easy ride, easy bike, i am a beginner, just took the DPS course 2 days training and good to go... BY THE WAY, IF ANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE AN IDEA IF THE UPGRADE FOR THE WHEELS BEARINGS ARE STILL FREE, LET ME KNOW..... ride safe, and let's keep the fun up Max Guys , you can email me back for any advices about the bearings, belt, oil, good cheap mechanic in Houston etc.... |

Thanks guys, for all your suggestions (re: the tailpiece and helmet stuff.) Its great to find a community of like-minded individuals who seem to be (so far anyway) respectful and kind to riders of all experience/knowledge levels. Just thought I would let y'all know.

Hi there. Thanks for keeping up a great forum. I've been reading it for a couple of weeks but the time has come for registering. I'm a 36-yr-old Brazilian biker living in the capital, Brasilia. I'm a previous owner of a GSX-R 750 and now the owner of a Kick Ash-coloured 2006 Lightning XB9SX CityX. Looking forward to learn a lot and collaborate whenever possible. Greetings and best to all, Patrick PS: this is my "farewell page" for the gixxer: http://www.srad.theblog.com.br (in Portuguese) |

I have loved motorcycles all my life. I finally got a motorcycle in 2001. I really loved my bike. At 5:30 AM, 9-26-2003, on my way home from work, I had a motorcycle accident. According to the doctor who treated me, he said by all-rights I should have been dead or at least paralyzed. It was only by the grace of God that I only had minor injuries. I count myself very lucky, and for the past almost three years, I have not been on a bike. I feel like I am now ready to start riding again, and thanks to a very good friend and co-worker, I have taken a great liking to the Buell Ulysses. I have always liked the dual sport look of bikes. What Eric and the people at Buell have done with the Ulysses is fantastic. The dual sport bikes I had previously looked at did not have the motor that someone my size was comfortable with. I'm 6'-2" and 220 lb. and like the idea of the 1203 cc motor. My previous bike was only 1100 cc (1093 cc). The idea of a trunk and saddlebags is awesome because I like taking trips on a bike. There is only one small problem, how do I get a wife, who never liked my motorcycle and told me on the day of my accident that she knew that I was going to have an accident, to agree to me getting another bike? I would really appreciate some input. I loved and miss riding my bike, especially to and from work. I like riding to work because it would relax me and going home would allow me to unwind. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this website. Hopefully, I will be riding on a 2007 Buell Ulysses sometime in the very near future. God bless, fanonascar}} |

Hi. New guys here. Been riding for years and currently own a Honda CBR929RR (Fireblade) and a Suzuki DRZ400-SM (Supermoto). I've always been interested in the Buells since I saw a new White Lightning many years ago in a showroom. I'll be checking the bank budget for next year and possibly replacing the Honda; thought I'd look up some Buell info from the source without hearing the factory drivel. My local HD shop will be having a demo day next month and I figured I'd stop in to test out a XB12SS, Ulysses and XB9S to see what all the fuss is about. |

Hello everybody, I've been looking through the posts for over a month now and decided to finally post something. I picked up my '05 Blast 2 weeks ago and went on my first ride with Lakeland BRAG in FL yesterday. I've been having a great time with the bike and doing alot of thinking about modding it up a little bit (not quite yet, but soon LOL). Anyway, just wanted to say hi and let you know that this site has been the most helpful in giving me ideas about what to do to the blast when I get a little cash together. Thanks again for the site and all the info. Mike |
