OOOUUUUCCHHHHH. I'm guessing from your posting that you made it out, for the most part, unscathed. Edit: just read the description of what happened on the Bike Vs Deer thread. Hope the recovery goes quickly w/ your ankle. Hmmm, maybe time to rethink the Mario Andretti quote in your profile. Dan (Message edited by toona on July 20, 2006) |

The words of Mario Andretti may not be the words to live by. I wasn't driving dangerously, a cop was behind me but it had no bearing on behavior. I think the 8' ditch did the triple tree in, I was going about 45mpg. It was just one of those incidents that proves anything can happen anytime. All you can do is prepare for the worst, when it goes down it won't be as bad as it could be. The red/black color scheme on the '07's look pretty good. |

Neither super glue nor duct tape is going to fix that. Bummer. Best wishes that you heal well and quickly. Thanks for sharing the photos. You have a great attitude by the way. Very refreshing! |

I think it was the 8 foot ditch that did it in. Down here on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi they dig these huge ditches they call canals in flood zones, due to coastal flooding and hurricane rainfall. Someone without a broken ankle would have a tough time climbing out. I a confident I could have salvaged the bike if it weren't for that damned ditch. Does anyone want to buy a Micron can? I wish I could get the pipes.

Well, I can't get any parts off it. The buy back from Dairyland/Sentry is like $3000.00 and I still owe money on it at the bank. I opted for the settlement and the adjuster is saying the value of the bike was $4,900.00. I have a big problem with that because they called three Buell dealers and asked what the value of a 2003 Buell XB12 was and averaged the three. The guy that came out to look at the bike must not have noticed the powder coated frame, carbon fiber airbox and K&N, the full Micron exhaust, the Millenium jugs, custom decals, smoked windscreen, flame gauges, race ECM, and it has the big bore kit. I wish I was present when he looked at it. That has to be the easiest job ever, "Oh, it's a Buell, I'll just call a dealer and see how much they go for." BS !!! |

unfortunately i just wrecked my 05 xb12scg too. went into a guard rail at about 40 mph. i was able to walk out of the hospital 3 hours and 42 stitches later. the insurance company is totalling out the bike since there are 2 small scrapes on the frame. i guess they wont touch a bike with any frame stuff. |
