Has anyone tried a gel vest during summer riding? If so, what did you think and where did you get it? |

It’s a type of cooling vest like a Joe Rocket Sahara evaporating vest, only a gel vest claims to hold 300 times its weight in water. I’ve been told that they’re worn by forest firefighters. They’re very expensive so I’ll probably purchase an evaporating vest form Ridecool.com, about $40. |

http://store.mm411.com/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&theParentId=178&id=8 48 They help, but you do get a little damp from the vest. I have been wearing mine on the ride home from work, since it's been HOT!! |

I got one...I luv it. I keep it in the freeze. It becomes a ice vest and you feel like you are in air cond. set at 72deg. |

Gowindward, Same vest that Ride Cool has and $10 cheaper, Thanks. Does your handle have anything to do with sailing? Fl_a1a, Do you have the gel or regular evaporating vest? |

I have a Joe Rocket Sahara vest, it is more of an evaporative cooling vest that you soak in water and wear under you mesh gear. It works very well. |

Cowtown, Yes, I'm a sailor. The Joe Rocket Sahara vest has been discontinued. You can still find some at dealers, but they are over priced compared to the vest SoundRider sales. |

Ok, I got mine as a gift. I just know it works, if there is an equivalent, cheaper, product then go for it! |

Gowindward, I use to race J/24s on Cheney Reservoir, just west of Wichita, at Ninnescah Sailing Association every year till they dropped it of the circuit last year to centralize the venues in an effort to reduce traveling distance. |

Cowtown, I had a Capri 25. I kept her on Clinton Lake west of Lawrence. I sold her last summer after a long internal debate. I was sad to see her go, but was happy to have a handful of cash. There is just not enough time for all the hobbies. :-( |
