I've got Japanese friends who refer to the bikes as "Jap" bikes, it's simply an abreviation for "Japanese" anymore, if you choose to make it something else or live in the past, thats your problem! |

They wouldn't let Mom go to the white school in California because she was a Jap, even though she was a born American citizen. Then they put her and her family into Manzanar, and to earn the right to be called Americans instead of Japs, Uncle Eddie went to Fort Sam, Dad's folks signed him into the Engineers because he was underage, and Uncles Spud and George signed up with the 442nd and fought their way up through Italy. I've been called a Jap more times than I can count by black and white alike and I put in 28 years in the Air Force. And the other day when I pulled up to a stoplight, some guy stares at my little kids 7, 5 and 3 years old and pulls the corners of his eyes back at them, and all I can do is tell my kids to blow it off. I sure ain't gonna tell 'em what my grandparents told their kids, that if they work hard and serve their country and do all the right things, their kids will be treated like real Americans, or even like real minorities and get scholarships and their own awards ceremonies off it. But I hope at least they have enough pride not to "go along with the joke." It ain't a joke. |

Remember when Bush used the term 'Paki' when referring to the Pakistani people? Did anyone know this is considered a slur by the Pakistanis? I sure as hell didn't. As for myself... I don't think any board member's family has suffered more at the hands of Japanese aggression as much as mine has. I harbor no ill will towards them as a whole, but I'm sure if I meet enough of them, I'll find one to hate eventually. There are only two kinds of people in the world - good ones and assholes... and assholes come in every race and color. |

Be that as it may, the policies of the Japanese government from the 1930s through 1946 has been laid to the account of my family, both sides of which have been in the US since the 1920s, on the basis of our racial appearance, and to the 4th generation including my 7, 5 and 3 year olds. I see no justice in this.

I do, however, quite understand how you feel. Feel free to PM me, if you'd like, and I will elaborate. |

I've said it once and I'll say it once more, PLAY NICE KIDS OR LEAVE THE EFFIN SANDBOX!!! Get it through your heads that arguing about a single term and events that have happened years ago do not accomplish anything in regards to enlightened discussion about Buell XB motorcycles. Period. |

Okay so you own a 'bike that was assembled by one or many people and or machines in some or many countries made from parts manufactured in many countries and is branded by a company name that has its corporate headquarters in Japan'. Or 'Jap bike' ... your choice!!! |

I said 'Jap Bike' several times in front of my buddies CBR. The CBR was not offended. Isn't it about time for someone to ask about a rumored new Buell engine.
