Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if there are differences in the insurance rates from a XB9 to an XB12? If so, how much? Anyone in the Washington area know what you'd be paying on a -9R vs a -12R and a -9S vs. a -12S? I just got a quote back on a BMW K1200R that made me wet my pants ($2400-$3000 a year...gulp). |

I have Progressive for my '04 xb12s that I bought a couple months ago. The quote was the same for both the 9s and the 12s, half the quote of the sv650 that I was also looking at. I think I'm at around $350 for 12 months of full coverage for a 26 year old single male with a moderate driving record. |

progressive wanted $5,009 a year to insure my 12r. 18 in the military, no tickets, and they had insured my '03 883 sportster for almost 3 years. most of the other places were between $2,500-$3,500. but i finally found some no-name agency back home that would do it for $1,200 a year. i'll probably never be able to get a claim out of 'em. |

Out where I'm at it's cheaper to insure a 12S than a 9R. Something about a fairing, low bars & living in an areas where sport riders come to from all over to tear the roads up & often crash make the insurance company a little jittery. They see the 12S as a standard bike & not as likely to tear up & down the roads like sportbikes do. I didn't bother to enlighten the insurance rep. Their ignorance in this case was my bliss since I happen to have a 12S |

move all your vehicle insurance to State Farm. They are the cheapest by far. I'm paying $300's for year for my Buell XB 9S and Honda RC51. It appears that they don't care what motorcycle you ride as long as your record is relatively clean. |

Those of you paying in the $300 range - where do you live? |

My ins company had the 9s and 12s at the same rate (around $450) and I live in upstate NY, 34 with a clean record and 12 years riding. The R versions were up over $700 though !! I called another ins company listed here (Sentry), and the rates less. Around 330 for a 9S and 370 for a 12S |

I have all of my vehicles with State Farm and pay $280/yr for a '04 - 12R. I am 25 and in Newark, DE. Edit - That includes a 10%discount for Basic and 10%discount for Advanced MSF classes. State mandates the insurance companies to give you the discount. (Message edited by crashwild on July 21, 2006) |
