Just got this off Motorcycle.com: "Oh it is On McWilliams is Ready for Laguna Posted on Wednesday, July 19 2006 @ 08:04:07 PDT By johnnyb A highly placed source within Buell racing who probably wishes to remain anonymous but I forgot to ask, really, who did not used to be the Editor of Cycle magazine, reports following a day of testing that the XB-RR of McWilliams is running better than ever. Also, the XB-RR will be running new, 16.5-in. wheels at Laguna, as well as Pirelli's Grade A rubber--tires never available to the team before. McWilliams has asked for a slipper clutch from day one. Now he has one, and it reportedly works well. Finally, McWilliams has ridden Laguna Seca before, on Kenny Roberts' GP bikes. Look for a Buell on the FX podium, haters. The race, I believe, is schedjed on the Speed channel directly following the GP race in which Rossi will kick all their assets again. "" |

Sounds suspiciously like something I alluded to on another Buell site this morning. I expect folks would do well to expect the unexpected.....Elves have been busy. |

The race is on Saturday at noon. Speed is showing it delayed on Sunday at 6PM Eastern. It will be old news by then. You can "watch" the race live on the internet at http://www.amasuperbike.com and click on the @theWire LIVE! Timing link on the left hand side. (Message edited by jima4media on July 19, 2006) |

I'll be there in person to see it!! I'd love to see the XB-RR on the podium. Watch the other manufacturers file a complaint with AMA if it happens.... |

As I recall, they didn't have an FX class there last year. Glad to hear they are this year. |

Thanks Emery for posting that! Wooohooo! Dang, I cannot believe I not only won't be there, but won't be able to watch the race on Sunday! Go Jezza! Go Team Buell/Warrs! This could well be epic! |

Isn't Mike Hale going to be on an XBRR as well? I stand by my prediction of a top 10 for Buell this weekend. maybe even significantly better than that |

I think that is inaccurate information. The race TAKES PLACE on Saturday at 12:05 local time. The race will be TELEVISED on Sunday. Let's get someone in the know and make darn sure. The race was moved from 3:45 to 12:05PM. I expect an answer back in a bit and will post. |

That website, amasuperbike.com, just said the XBRR with McWilliams qualified 12th or about 5 seconds a lap slower than the leader Anthony Gobert. NEVER MIND, DiSalvo just beat Gobert and pushed McWilliams back to 13th. It could still go down lower, I assume it's all changing minute to minute right now. And it's 4 seconds off the leader pace, not 5. (Message edited by CURTYD on July 21, 2006) |

At the end of FX qualifying it is ... 1. DiSalvo 1:28.047 2. Gobert 1:28.171 3. Hayes 1:28.276 4. Bostrom 1:28.869 . . . 14. McWilliams 1:32.199 . . . 26. Hale 1:35.932 |

I don't mean to make excuses, and I don't know if this is the case here but Buell seems to be against the use of qualifying rubber... Even with that (if it's the case) that's not quite as quick as I was hoping for. We'll see what happens tomorrow though . |
