quick question for those who have this jacket. i have a 46" chest, 38" waist (w/ a belly) and that is size XL in the icon sizing chart. says MAX. chest size. will this jacket fit to tight? i usually take XL jackets/shirts etc. i do wish to be able to move in the jacket freely. the liner will most likely not be used to much so i am thinking that will give me a little more room. i am not sure how the sizes run..a little small/big. i'm just trying to get the right size so i don't need to return it. thanks for any help guys. also what is your opinion an these jackets? worth the cash? quality wise? other sugestions if you feel it is not worth getting. and what you would suggest......maybe good question for "THE PUSHER" diablobrian.. I've never owned or tried on an Icon jacket, or I'd be all over this Eric. The Icon jackets have a pretty good reputation. Just stay away from their gloves. The (discontinued) timax gloves are the only ones I've heard of that have any durability. I'd also look for at minimum the 9inch zipper on the back to attach to pants, but a full circumference is even better, because it transforms your jacket and pants into a suit. With the full zipper you can use your street gear for track days, and even racing! I really like my First Gear 2-piece. I got it from newenough.com. I also like they Field Sheer mesh jacket I got from a fellow badwebber earlier this summer If you stay with reputable brands, with C-E armor you'll do well. There are so many to choose from these days that i can't even begin to give a complete list. Vanson, HeinGerrick, Dainese, AGV, RevIt, Frank Thomas,First Gear, Spidi, etc.... The best jacket is the one that provides adequate protection, and that you'll wear, every single time you ride the bike. A great jacket does no good hanging in your closet at home! Did I mention spine protectors too? not just the little piece of soft foam that comes with a lot of today's jackets. The pocket being able to hold a good one is a real bonus. That help? remember you asked for it! |

Eric, I have the same measurements as you, and yes I do have a belly. The ICON Motorhead XL fits me very well! In fact, it has a little more room in the belly compared to most other jackets I have tried. It does, however, fit like a proper motorcycle jacket, i.e. long arms, and close to the body. Don't expect to be doing jumping jacks in this jacket, but don't worry, it won't feel like a straight jacket either. If you are really worried, go to your local Cycle Gear and try it on... then buy it on Ebay for half the price. P.S. Sorry to any Cycle Gear folks out there, but you're just way too high on jackets compared to the internet. |

Eric, also remember if you find a jacket that fits you perfectly a seamstress can add the full circumference zipper. |
