Jprovo, the details say "to improve rider comfort" re the springs. My guess is that means they are not quite as stiff. I would like that. My Uly doesn't like stutter bumps very well, I have back the compression damping out to near maximum on the fork. Need to start messing with the rear compression too. Really the only 2 handling woes with my Uly are the stutter bumps and it's propensity to shake it's head in sand and deep gravel. The latter I think I can solve with a steering damper from Al. They are progressive rate springs. They are retrofitable to 06 models too. No more bottoming out. | ||

Motorcycle.com just posted a wrte-up on the 2007 Buells. They seem to like the new springs on the Uly: "The long-travel suspension takes some getting used to, although the new triple-rate springs minimize the see-saw effect bikes with long-travel suspension tend to have during aggressive riding." So I'm already thinking about retrofitting the new springs to mine. I don't suppose anyone knows the new part number and cost yet? Also, what about fork oil? Does the oil weight and level stay the same? I have to think that with a new spring you are going to have to add or remove some oil from the forks at a minimum. | ||

I talked to the guys at Buell specifically about this today. They said the springs will be around $95. The fork oil is the same. They also suggested adding 5mm of fork oil to the existing 06 forks and that should help quite a bit without needing the new springs. It just depends on how much you want to spend. | ||

With the 5mm more oil should all other fork settings stay the same? I'm generally happy with the handling, I'd just like less dive under braking. With the new fork springs I guess we're going to need someone to post the new factory recommended suspension settings. | ||

5mm. How much in ounces is that? To know that you've added 5mm won't you have to use a measuring stick? I suppose that would allow you to see how even the oil in the forks is. |
