just have to get this one of my chest as its starting it irritate me... 06 buell, had it for 3 months, 2 weeks ago, took a pillion rider to work with me, pulled up outside the office, she gets off and i feel the brake lever wobble in my hand so i grip harder and SNAP! - break it clean in half across the inch thick metal! I call my buell dealership and they say bring it in for warranty repair - 2 days later i get a call saying i can't have it replaced under warranty as there are scratch marks on the ball of the lever from 2 months ago when i caught it on a wall and buell wouldn't pay the dealership back if they replaced it. fortunately had replacement levers on order from the states which arrived days later - i can appreciate the dealerships reluctance but they couldn't even supply a lever for a few days until the new ones showed up - once again my faith in them is firmly kicked in to touch.  there. rant done. For the future, either use a hacksaw to notch the lever an inch or so in from the tip, or drill a hole about half the width of the lever in the same distance. It's a racer's trick that weakens the end of the lever. That way if the lever gets stressed the tip breaks off, not the whole lever. | ||

You can't hardly expect a dealer to have parts laying around for loaners. Or even put a new one on and say bring it back when you get your new ones from the states. Levers are cheap. | ||

Levers are cheap. not really a case of dealerships having a spare used lever (£40-50 here for a replacement brake lever) which they all should do anyway... more annoyed with the fact i can snap a brake lever in half with my bare hands on a £7845 motorbike and still not get it replaced under warranty within 3 months of purchase. i'm no metal expert but i also know i'm not that bloody strong hence a manufacturing fault. | ||

Causes aside, instead of coming here to bitch about it, why didn't you come here and ask if someone had a spare or could otherwise hook you up with one? | ||

The levers are aluminum for crying out loud my friend. You dragged it along a wall and that is when you probably stressed it and then it finally snapped in your hand over time. If they have to have a spare laying around for your bike then they have to have one for all the HD models as well. They might as well just build a separate warehouse just for spares for when this stuff happens. | ||
