I just saw a dealership in Texas that had a Brand New Yellow XB9s in stock. Upon emailing the dealership, I found that it was just sold. I thought I lost my chance at buying a Brand New Yellow Lightning (something I really want), but tonight I went to my local dealership & they had a brand new 2003 in yellow. Figuring that this bike is now 4 model years old, what should I expect to pay? What would the big difference be between an '03 and an '06 (and soon '07) - feature wise. Also, what are people paying for a new '06 XB9sx? |

Wait to see the new one coming out soon. Then compare. |

Trans are def. different. the older ones seem to "clink" and have harder shifts then the 06's. some little crap is different also.. |

I have an 06 CityX, I have not been on any earlier models, the shifting on mine is smooth and pretty quiet, comparable to my cousins Katana. I got mine for around $8500. I believe the other differences are a lighter swingarm, frame pucks, an a different airbox design. Also more fuel capacity. (Message edited by staindus on July 13, 2006) |

The left over 03, IF it still has the full one year warranty is worth 5500-6000.00 |

If you buy the 03 make them upgrade the pulleys and belt to o4/06 stuff. Really! |

The forks are 2mm larger on the new bikes. That's really a non-issue. |

If you buy the 03 make them upgrade the pulleys and belt to o4/06 stuff. I have over 15,000 km on my original, stock 03 belt, with absolutely no problems. I'll install a new belt (the upgraded 03) when the time comes--why fix it if it ain't broke? As for getting the dealer to "upgrade" the drive belt, well I'm sure they would, but they'd charge for it. The original belt is not considered a defective item. Other stuff...I can't recall everything, you might want to do some searches on threads posted a few years ago when a number of guys (myself included) were posting questions about differences between 03/04 XBs. Be aware that the wheel bearing seals should be orange--if they're black, the dealer should upgrade them. Oh, and when I bought my 03 XB9R in January 05, I was given full 2 year warranty--and they've held good on that, as I had some minor warranty work done just this summer. |

I had an '03 XB9s and loved it to death. I still miss the revvy, willing right off of idle motor. I'm riding an '06 XB12Ss now and love it as well. There are some worthwhile improvements but I wouldn't hesitate to get an '03R at a decent price for a track bike or a street runner. |

"Posted on Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 11:17 am: Futureimagineer, are you talking about the yellow one at Hals?" Yes I am. It shows that it was a stunt bike? I showed up at 6:45pm to sign up for Riders Edge... so I didn't talk to anyone. Do you know anything about the bike? |
