Hey all , don't know if you like to see accident photos, but I thought you might want to see a lucky guy's accident.I was hit from behind at a stoplight by a girl going at least 40 mph.She never hit the brakes and as it turns out,it wouldn't have helped at all probably. When I was hit,I was driven down and onto the left side on the pavement. The trucks wheels were off the ground and was parked on the right footpeg, what stopped us was the metal being ground off the left side of the bike while we slid.I could see the truck (from the pavement) and was kicking the bumper to slide further away from it to protect myself.Luckily I was the only vehicle in line,so she pushed me completely through the intersection and we came to a stop just past the light.I was wearing my HJC full face helmet (which never got scraped)An X-Pert vented leather jacket, buell puck gloves, harley jeans and swat zipper boots.I also had on a wenger laptop backpack, which got scraped to s--t also.Went to the hospital and 2 hours later, walked out to my wifes car with a limp. The EMT's said to buy a lottery ticket and go to church this week.I might do that! Bad scene, fairly lucky outcome.Wear good equipment, always. ....Mick

Mick, you sure are a lucky man. 3 cheers for proper riding gear. So does this mean you'll be getting an '07? NUTS |

Good lord man...someone must be really watching over you...or you must have racked up a ton of Good Karma points... Way to go, the best bad luck ever...I'm SOOOO glad you're ok. Major points for having good gear on and keeping your wits about you. What was the driver's reaction to the whole thing? HUGS Angela PS. Just saw you are from Rochester..I used to live there..right on University across from the Art Gallery. Grew up in Buffalo!!! Howdy fellow WNY-er (Message edited by angelwild327 on July 09, 2006) |

Turns out the girl was 18 years old and had a suspended license , and yes she was arrested later that evening.Funny thing was , as I was laying there,a couple of police officers asked me what kind of bike "that used to be".One officer that knew Buells said "damn, what a waste of a nice bike" and "nice leathers". Thanks for the well wishes, and good thoughts. ..Mick |

Dang Mick. From the looks of those pictures I'm very happy that you're still here to tell the story. Good choice on riding gear. Henrik |

Glad you made it without worst injuries, I think you probably used up your lottery luck. I will second the motion for proper riding gear. I just recently unloaded off my bike but I didn't fair as well as you. Wouldn't be here to write this if it wasn't for my protective gear. |

sweat is far less painful than BLOOD...... Thats what I keep telling myself as I ride Ortega in my Speedo's and flip flops with a baseball cap! Seriously though, good light shines on ya Mick, that much is obvious. Real shame about the bike. As for the bimbo that nailed ya... She can think about it while Big Bertha taps it from the back in the joint. |
