Wow. Looks just like mine and I didn't drop the forks. No one said you don't have a right to your opinion. However, you don't have the right to call others "Bozo's".

Metal, perhaps so, but our buddies were talking about the 0° bars. Check it out...

Alright, alright, already... I will succumb to the defacto BWB censors and recall my "bozos" assessment. I am so sorry to hurt the feelings of the incompetent...

I guess I should have said I have the 7o bars. Don't know if the 0o bars are any narrower. I'll have to take a look this weekend.

See now we are calling people incompetent. Its funny that we have a moderator (Glitch) posting on this thread and seeing the name calling???? This is one of the reason I don't post often anymore. Its people like this.My bars turned out fine idiot and drilling the hole in the side for the clutch cable is a better route. Less stress on the cable where its almost pinched. And I can replace my cable much faster and easier the DROPPING THE fork's.Most on this board did'nt drop the forks. So

off!!!

Hell Dana, I thought you of all people would have had thicker skin.
Hell, I can't win.
When I step in, I'm called a Heavy Handed Nazi.
When I don't it's implied I'm not doing my job.
Oh well...

Name calling is one thing I don't care for I didn't ask for it. But would you like for me to continue arguing with this guy?? Rocco,Jason,Dyna or myself didn't ask to be attacked. And I can't believe I'm protecting Dyna but right is right no matter who it is.

I do, but it's after the fact.
I believe you've made you point yourself rather well.
What could I say to better the situation?
Anything else I think would only make things worse.

No name calling, period.
Please in the future if you don't agree what someone else has done, state your objections without name calling, or insinuating that person is less than smart for not doing it the way you would have done, or have done.
Dana and company had a hard time with the installation of cross roads bars, and were nice enough to post in detail how they went about the installation.

And I can't believe I'm protecting Dyna but right is right no matter who it is.
I thought you and Greg were friends?

I think that this posting was very helpful since I'm contemplating a set of cross road bars for my own bike. Now I can decide what I think is the better way to go about doing it. Thanks everyone.

I usually try to stay away from the arguments for ONE SIMPLE reason: If I need help in the future and have to come here and ask, I don't want to have already pi$$ed in the hands of those helping me. Think about it. Comments stated that were light hearted are taken pretty strongly by some, doesn't mean it is wrong, just not appropriate on this board.

Oh yea, mine are the 7° bars also, and I did have my forks off for painting. I just found that the ease of routing put fewer stress points on the cable's. The only thing ran the original way are the wiring for controls.

This ain't arguing, this is mild communication. Try growing up in an italian house hold if you want to see real arguing

I agree with Scoobytwo, this thread has been really helpful.

It's hard for me to focus on the negative while the positive of this thread is so strong : )

What's with the stock bars on a Lightning anyway? I mean they look like something from a classic kids tricycle?

How could Erik design such a cool machine and put such lame tubes on it? In retrospect, I wish I would have bought the Firebolt, but I liked the clean look of the Lightning so much that I overlooked the lame-ass bars at the time. Anyway, on my list of planned mods, the Crossroad bars were numero uno. I LOVE THEM!!!

This is getting funny... ever since I raised awareness to your Crossroads installation debacle you have been trying to get my goat. Trust me, you won't! As for the shields, well, I am working on the next generation of launch vehicles.

Wasn't just my installation its many other on this board. BTW your clutch is hard to pull??? You might want to drill that hole so the cable has a straighter shot at the lever and lube your cables. They are kinda dry from the factory. Ray it isn't what you said its how you said it. It was uncalled for. You might want to take some free advise.... think about what you type before you type it...it doesn't take a Rocket scientist to realize that.

OK Bads1, fair enough.. thanks for the advice on the cable, but it is not so much the tension as it is the length of travel that I find difficult with the clutch. And, I'll admit, that my attempt to ridicule you and your comrades was uncalled for... I suppose it bucks the whole system of biker comaraderie. Let's call a truce and I will promise to be more respectful of others in the future. God, what a frickin' kumbaya moment here... but seriously, let's bury the hatchet.

Ray its a truce!!!! As far as clutch lever...Give Al a shout over at www.americansportbike.com and ask for a set of these CRG levers. You can adjust that travel. I have the shorty,s on my 12 and they are really nice.

Don't know about you but my tri-cycle handled like a dream with them big ole hawkin bars on there. Just learned quickly not to yank on them! Leaning into the turn helped, oh no, just figured out where it all started. LOL

Don't know how the O° bars feel, does your wrist hurt any? I wish the 7's had even more angle at times, then again i can sit up and stretch my back with the throttle master on there.

I was thinking of getting a set of 0o bars just to see which I liked more.
Al says he can sell you just the bars.

The difference is the way the bar's "key" is machined.
The "key way" on the mounting plate hasn't changed.

Hey, I didn't know that. I think I'll get a set of 7° bars just to try them out. Not having to remove that damn bracket again makes the decision a whole lot easier...
