Hey, we both have black 2k M2s... I think I have everything I need, haven't done it yet, it's running too sweet to pull apart... I ordered these from American Sport Bike (their part #'s in green): Bronze oil pump drive gear 17126 (Buell part #26391-06) O.P.D. woodruff key 17121 (Harley #11317) Cam cover gasket 17119 Rocker box gasket set 5937 Exhaust gaskets 5931 I also have on hand: Oil pump gasket 17118 Pinion gear locking tool 16083 (This is a Jim's tool) Service Manual Parts Catalog Red and Blue Loctite Anti-Seize Copper Permatex Motor oil Grease Baking pan to catch the oil A half-fast dealer and 3 aftermarket shops nearby You may need: Pushrod seals upper (4) 11190 Pushrod seals lower (4) 17944-89 (Harley part #'s) If you haven't upgraded your exhaust hanger to the Y bracket, you might want to do it at this point, part # 17036 from American Sport Bike. This also has a Harley part #, it's an -01. I went with SE "bolt-in" cams from Nallin/NRHS. Here is a link to their camshafts page, with a write-up on the SE cams. Just scroll down to "Buell camshafts." Whatever cams you get, make sure they're the right year for the bike, with the right pitch on the teeth. I may be forgetting something, not sure. Here is a link to the Nightrider site, they have cam specs on different brands for comparison. They also had a link to installation instructions. Here is a link to the Andrews site, they list the specs of their cams, along with installation instructions in .PDF format. What cams you going with? It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a small torque wrench on hand for the cam cover and rocker boxes. I like using a butterfly on the cover bolts, dialed down way light, for speed. A cordless drill also works if you don't have air, in which case you can cut the end of an allen wrench and stick in the chuck. I hear you can get by removing only the rear rocker box. If you haven't updated your gaskets you may as well do both. I also hear you shouldn't use a magnet to pull the pushrods if you're not removing the tubes. Sanchez has a few more cam change tips in this thread. Good luck. You should post some pics and intel when you do the job. |

Yep, that about covers it. Now is also a great opportunity to switch over to some XB rocker box covers if you don't already have them. |

they have pcv valves in the top and drain away from the air filter - cleans up the carb plumbing, this is a fine mod and is'nt too labor intensive. costs about a c-note. a fella here named lafayette has a way of doing it for less money and it's just as effective, try the search feature it works well! |

Not to mention it changes the 2 piece upper into a 1 piece cover, less places to leak and easier to assemble. The whole thing cost me about 105.00 about 2 years ago. Then i sold the old pieces on eBay to get some cash back.Win-win all the way. |

Cams were 298 shipped. Rest of the parts were about 100, another 20 for the tool. There are a lot of posts in the KV on worn cam lobes and oil pump drive gears on M2s. So you can think of it as insurance as well as performance. |
