Kick stand on my S2 is very tricky,,always feels like the bike is ready to fall. Are there any fixes for this stupid piece of engineering?? Maybe a little grinding on the kickstand or the frame to make it feel more secure???? thanks ron | ||

If you watch some/many/most S2 owners with stock unmolested sidestands you will see that they put the bike in gear, roll it forward against the compression, then place it down calmly on the sidestand with a gentle pressure against the sidestand pushing/holding it foreward with their foot as it comes to rest. Others with the molested sidestands have bent them a bit down and in to hold the bike in a more upright position. If you do a search for Aaron Wilson S2 bend you should find the links to pics showing the approximate amount to bend the sidestand leg/arm/thing. At one point there was a change to the sideplate adding in a steel insert to help as well. Hope this helps at least a little. There is a sub-section down in the Old Buell area of the site here where people have posted pics of their S2's. Someone will probably post a link to it for you shortly. In the garage I always park mine on a 2"x4" chuck of lumber about 18" long just to help take some of the stress off. Did you get the Signature Series documentation with it? Mine was missing all that extra special stuff, probably sitting on someone's garage wall or recycle bin someplace. Kind of a neat extra if you have it. What color is your's? Mine's an Ice Pearl White. | ||

I'm with Mikej. I use a 2x6 under the stand while in the garage, in gear, pushed forward. I do have a project in the works to fix my S2T's lean. I'll post it, if and when it's finished. Thanks, everybody for the posts,,wow, this is a great forum, people actually help each other out,,what a novel approach. Other forums Ive been on treat people like they are stupid if they dont know the answer to something. My 95 is Pearl Yellow, has all the signed pieces parts and even came with a blue neon light, that is way cool. I love the way this bike rides,, I live in the north georgia mountains, near Toccoa,Ga. SO my back yard is a sport-riders dream. My son drives a zuki bandit,,and he even says my buell is a better ride than his ricer....thanks again for the posts... ron | ||

Aaron at NRHS did it for me up in Colorado. I believe he just put it in a vise and heated it up and bent it. Just clean it up and paint, and your done... Mine is painted silver aluminum to match the aluminum bracket. I think one of the links above explains it, and may even have more pictures. I love it. The lock still works, and the bike doesn't roll forward anymore. |
