I'm a firm believer in Synthetics,, have used them in my boat (Donzi Z-25- Rat 508ci)and all of my cars,, ususally go 15k miles overall,,with a new filter and filler quart about every 3k miles.. Does anyone have any experience in using Royal Purple in the Buell?? Seems like with all the heat this thing produces, it would be a better oil than pure petro base. I use both Royal Purple and Mobile 1.. any thoughts and suggestions???? thanks ron.. |

Synth is better than dino, no doubt about it -- many use Mobil 1 (including me in my M2), many use Royal Purple -- both camps swear they are right, of course . . . . use good quality stuff and change it at appropriate intervals, and ride the bike ;-} |

Just don't use redline shockproof in the tranny. It gums up the clutch and stator. I use Mobil 1 V twin oil, don't know if it works any better or worse, but does cost 2x what normal Mobil 1 costs. You are aware that almost everyone overfills their Buell the first time? It spews oil all over the place. If you change the motor oil just pour in 2 quarts and warm it up good for 20 mins and then fill to 1/2 way up the dipstick with the motor idling. |
