Ok, I did a search for the "Official factory fix" for the loose seals. No find. Hey Court, was not one promised earlier this year? Ok, no more waiting. Everyone, please post your most successful methods to date! Thanks, (I think!  ) | ||

I've been waiting also.....  I've gotten to where I hate to even open the damn things at all.....  I'm also worried about the weak-ass latches...  Did I get my point across???  BC Steve | ||

Dragon Slayer, Try DAP contact cement. I have not tried it on my saddle bag seals, but I have used it to glue replacement gasket seals on airplane landing lights per the recommendation of an FAA airframe inspector ... that was two years ago on a landing light gasket mounted behind the propeller. It has survived rain, cold and hot temperatures, and 140 MPH air speeds. The landing light gaskets were mounted on aluminum, not plastic, but it is probably worth a try. You can probably get a can at the local hardware store. Good luck. | ||

I like DAP myself for certain applications but I've found for active plastic parts it falls away after awhile. To throw my hat into the ring I would suggest simple black silicone gasket sealer. I also once again feel the need to voice my opinion that it is ridiculous that we have to deal with these bags and their problems for what they cost us. Ladies and gentlemen the Krauser-built cases on my 1978 BMW have almost 200k on them and don't leak, or open on me while riding as long as I lock them, and have never failed although a bracket bolt did shear on me in the middle of nowhere once. A German bolt by the way, just like the brackets and bags made for our Ulys. I fought with the mounting of the sidecases and thanks to this forum was able to get them on, although they need a reinstall to keep the R/R footpeg from digging a slot into my ride case. I installed the topcase mount bracket yesterday (although I don't plan to use the case itself) for a little extra carrying ability... from the back and sides it is obviously welded up wrong... R/S horizontal is lower than the L/S. I just stepped backed and had to smile again, I waited over three weeks for these things that cost me a grand and 2/3 of the brackets don't fit right and now I hear the closure latches will probably break and the seals don't seal right. On the Sidestand thread I was politely questioned about my reference to the latches as being "junk". I stand by that statement, when taken into perspective considering the cost of this tourset the latches are just that, along with the seal system. I don't think the bags are junk, just not worthy of their cost, not even close. Give silicone a try, I won't use it anywhere near the internals of my engines but for plastics and rubber I've had pretty good success. | ||

Thanks all. Keep it coming! Xbimmer, I had the Krausers on my Moto Guzzi and loved them. Present bags are just alright. Looks great and holds a fair amount. The seal and latches suck. The brackets were just a minor pain. | ||
