I just got off the phone with the folks at Pit bull, as I had some questions about their rear stand. They mentioned that they had just sold a rear stand to a Uly owner who returned it, saying it didn't work. The rep at pit-bull wasn't sure of the specifics, but said he was expect the customer in today on other business, and he would ask more about it and call me back.

Anybody here successfully using a standard rear pit bull stand with a Uly?

It has to be the wide version.

What about a front stand? I'd like to be able to get my own wheels off, but I'm not real confident in the stability of the whole jack/cradle thing.

I built the wooden cradles from the template.

Mine are not very stable. The bike will rotate on them. You need to be careful.

I am going to try and line them with a rubber pad or some neoprene to try and give them some grip.

I have the ULY up on the wooden cradles now. I was careful and a bit anxious about the bike rolling/falling over so I cut the template tight and sanded until the bike sits solidly in them. It is still a good idea to use tie downs to the jack. Better safe than sorry. Both wheels are off awaiting new tires and there were no problems with stability while removing them.

For sure....USE THE STRAPS!

I use the Craftsman jack with the template and it works great, but I do strap it on the jack.

As for a front end stand, you'll need to get the pin style as the forks are uneven at the bottom. The side with the pinch bolt is longer. That sucks!

The front stand that attaches to the steering head might work on the Uly, but you'd have to remove the beak first...

You're right Rhino. When I saw it used, it was holding up a XB-R. Didn't stop to think about the nose setup.

works great on the Uly... All you have to do is take off one of the springs on the lift ears and it will be wice enough...

I just replaced my rear 616 with an Avon Azaro. I used a Craftsman bike jack (lift) and the wooden cradles made from the template. I used two straps from the crossbar on the handlebars to the anchor points on the lift. The bike was stable, even with raising and lowering it several times through the course of the job.

I have the craftsman jack. Would somebody please tell me where I can find the template? Also, I thought that there was only 1 jack point on the muffler at the rear. Is there another jack point on the front? If not, is there any concerns that the muffler or something that supports the muffler will be damaged?

The jack points are marked with small triangles. Unless the muffler is clean they are hard to see. look just in front of the front hanger and just behind the rear one.

Crusty, Good choice on tires.
We did 180 miles in the rain on Sunday for a benefit ride to the Veterans Hospital in Lebanon PA on new (installed Saturday evening) Azaro's. The ride was 100% better than the stock 616's. I can't wait for some good dry roads around here to really scrub them in.
