Divulging all the Oregon secret roads we have in store for Friday will require a pledge of silence. Depends on how many miles, what kind of pace folks want, I will put together some options/maps/rendevous points. There will be some world-class technical roads, and some that are just fricking fun favorites. For our Canuck cousins, they'll all be new. As a matter of fact, for everybody but me, I'll bet I can find a new road. Bob, I will of course send all plans to you, the Master, for approval prior to finalizing. Had a nice 6000 mile service on my Duc last week (she loved the way they lubed her). Tomorrow I am dropping her off at EDR Performance Racing for a Dynotune with the Power Commander. I am loving her more each day, especially since I got rid of the Pilot Roads and went to the Pilot Power tires. Awesome. I promise an enticing Friday Ride post soon. Y'all come down now, heah? |

I can only speak for a few Canucks. So far all I know is Jimmy, Eric, Marc and moi are coming. Shotgun, good move going to Pilot Powers. They warm up fast and stick like......uh.....something really sticky! Harv |

Hi Loni, I'll confirm later if I can persuade Craig and Jim or anyone else to join us, but for now it'll just be me, arriving on Friday. Craig is getting married on the 21st of July, so he is concerned about attending SPLASH the weekend before their big day (even though his fiance hasn't said that he shouldn't go). Jim is back to work now and is putting in long days, he's picking up roofing jobs on the weekends to make up for time lost over the fall/winter. Looking forward to seeing everyone again! John |

Shotgun You entice me with your offer of world-class technical roads, and some that are just fricking fun favorites. Looking forward to seeing Gina as well. I've always wanted a Duc. I’m all for the Friday “Shotgun Classic”. I really need a break from the major reno blues too. Can’t wait! See ya all soon. FunJimmy |

Is 340 miles Splash Friday too much? I really had to cut out some fine roads to get down to that. But I could try to cut again, or make an alternate shorter route. Please let me know what you all think. If we left Woodland earlyish, like 8 AM, we should make it back no later than 5 PM, plenty of time to clean up and get the barbecue fired up. |

Shotgun, Sounds good. Thanks for taking charge of the Friday ride. I will not be able to go the whole distance but want to ride part of the day. Could you map me out maybe a 4 hour trip so that I can get back to the park and set up for the BBQ? My mom said she will go and get our spot but there will be things I need to do. You are the best! |

If I'm lucky enough to get Betty put together in time, I am gona be a scenic cruser this year. No laps at the front of the pack. It will be hard to hold myself back, but I must in order to keep the flaming Buell from disentegrating yet once again. I had hoped to have a new bike by this year, but my employment situation has precluded that possibilty. In fact I will deffinatly be on the econotour. But that should have no serious effect on my abilty to enjoy some time with my best friends. Thats yous. XOXOX. sooner, Galen |

Did a SPLASH Friday ride today. Still too long! Ok, I'm cutting out all the straight roads. No freeways, almost no secondaries, just twisties. Get us back to Woodland in time for Barbecue and still have some strength left for SPLASH Saturday. Maybe one winery stop. Closer to 300 miles, back by 4PM. |

Hi Bob , the Buell has been down since border raid, it started with a broken header stud and has escalated into a total top end rebuild. Don |

Glad to hear that everyone is getting excited for Splash weekend. We just returned home from 5 days in Central Oregon (Ka-Nee-Ta Resort) where we relaxed, ate good food, relaxed, drank lots of bloody marys and margaritas, relaxed, went swimming, layed out in the sun and relaxed more. Vacations are the best! As for the head count on this years event I have so far 17. Galen, Shotgun, Don, Lo, Deb, Bob, John, Craig(?), Jim(?) Harv, Jimmy, Eric, Marc, Mike, Linda, Chris, myself. What about Shawn? Mike, Kim and Cody? Has anyone heard from Peter and his wife? (The spokane couple that has joined us the last few years?) What about Duane and Lisa? Roadrash? Don't know the details about riding but at least join us for the BBQ! 20 days! Loni |

Sacrificed my Monday again today to do another SPLASH Friday reconnasance run. Poor me. Anyway, I have it down to 303 miles for the longer group, 190 for the shortcut. About 100 of that (50 of that on I-5 to and from Longview) is primary roads. The balance are secondary and terciary roads. Some great roads in below average repair, some great roads in good repair. A stop at mile 80 for coffee and the World's Best Berry Cobbler. Gas at miles 145 and then only if needed on the way back (Rainier, Longview, Whatever). Lunch at Trask Mountain Outpost in Yamhill. Back in time for shower before barbecue. I could be talked into a short diversion to the finest Pinot Gris/Pinot Noir vineyard in the valley (Willakenzie), and they are open on Fridays. By the time you get across the Coast Range for the second time, you are gonna be begging me for a straight road. So we'll lunch and then launch thru some more great twisties. Your straight road is I-5, to and from Longview. Kind of like the 20 minute warmup/cooldown your trainer gives you. But you still will be sore the next day if you push it. EXTRA EXTRA. There is a prize for the person who guesses how many curves on one particular 40 mile stretch. One pair Pro-grip Gel Touch grips. I have them on Gina and they take a lot of BUzz out of the grips. Hint. If you count only the lefts or only the rights and multiply by two, you save half the work. Of course anybody riding two-up will have an advantage with a built-in navigator on their tail. I miss you guys. I am soooooooo looking forward to SPLASH. P.S. On a different subject....we signed up to be foster parents with the Golden Bond Rescue, a group that rescues neglected or abandoned Golden Retreivers about 6 weeks ago. They finally called and placed Simba with us. He is blond, 2.5 years old, and a love muffin. He won't chase a ball (retreiver), barks at scary noises, and wants to be under foot. A girl got him as a pup, then moved and left him with her parents who were living in an RV. They knew it wasn't fair to him to have no activity and offered him to Golden Bond for placement. Since my Rip died last October, I have been lonesome for a dog. It may be that the foster parents adopt him. Stay tuned for NEWS. |

Head count: I’m in. Need anything brought for the BBQ? I may not be the best cook but I can sure bring and open packages for others to cook. Any suggestions on a good place to stay for the night for Splash? |

Whitj, Lakeside Inn, Woodland Fri, and Sat. Be glad to share a room with you if you book one. Loni and Chris always do a bang-up job on the Barbecue. Bring a little cash for the kitty. Kitty likes cash. |

Heads up if anyone's going to be going out Hwy 30 by Sauvie Island.... We have a grant from ODOT to work the construction zone there. Lots of cites being written for going over the posted 45 and since it's a work zones, the fines are doubled. So heads up! |

Shotgun, Thanks for the offer. I will book this week at the Lakeside Inn. Looks like Mtrbkmike needs a room as well. Should I check to see if they have space for three to a room? I will check my email over the weekend but if I don’t hear any different I’ll book for two this Monday. I will be staying Friday & Saturday night. Mtrbkmike, Are you riding to the motoGP? I am thinking very… very seriously about going as well. Only thing is, where to stay!? |

No I'm driving down. I have my 10 year old to contend with so I'll be busting I-5 non stop. We camp as it eliminates total frustration of coming and going to the track. If you have not booked a room by now my guess your looking at an hour drive from the track. Mike |
