I want to polish the wheel lips on my stock Amber wheels. The front looks like it is going to be very tricky. Anybody done this yet and have pics or pointers? I want to know as much as I can before crossing a point of no return and I f*#$ mine up. Thanks! | ||

any good aluminum polish should work fine...ive used mothers,heavy rubbing compound, stuff from blue coral/eco lab and meguires...they all have worked decent...the hard part is with my 9 it has white wheels and polishing aluminum makes a black mess u do the math...i havent found a good way to keep the black stuff off the white and it gets in all the blemishes so i end up waxing my wheels afterwards. ive heard cornstarch helps from a friend who polishes semi wheels and airplane noses but ive never tried it. | ||

Anybody else? I am trying the figure out the best way to remove the Amber powdercoating, esp. on the front wheel. Surely someone has polished a set of Amber wheel lips. | ||

I've seen a few but have never gotten a good answer as to how it was done... I need to do the same thing. I only want to do the very edge of the bead though. | ||

is it powdercoat or are the rims anodized to color...?? If it's anno, I'd use 800-1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper to take the color back to silver. Then polish accordingly... Dremel for the nooks and crannies... | ||

Any news on this side? I know the wheels are painted, not powdercoated or anodized. But as Nasty73z already mentioned, when you use paint remover and the already polished aluminium underneath it is damaged, there's no return.. |
