So like many xb's my bike runs rough below 2500 rpms. So I bought the Vdsts to reset the TPS. That whole process went find, infact after setting the TPS to 5.8 (as per AL) it was close to 1050 rpms. Then like anyone with a new toy I started to push buttons. After the bike as warmed up and still idling I hit the reset AFV button. The idle went rough and dropped to 800. I tried to adjust it out and it idled REALLY bad. The tps adjustment was showing around 7.2 when it tried to idle around 1050.I tried to do another TPS rest but it made not difference. So what have I done and how do I undo it? |

It's easy. Go for a ride. If you can hold it at 2500-3500 RPM above 40MPH, steady state, for 5 miles, it'll be back to normal. It doesn't take long for the AFV to learn, but the key is steady state operation. Big throttle movements yank it back out of closed loop operation into open loop operation, which resets the AFV acquisition process. What altitude are you at? What intake/exhaust mods are on the bike? Your AFV must have been pretty far off 100 for it to affect the running by that much. Al |

Thanks, that worked great. The only intake mod is the snorkel was removed because I installed the race kit. The fact it drop so far is odd to me as well. I just had the race ECM installed and the local shop reset the TPS. The fact they were SOO pleasant to work with is why I ordered the VDSTS. The elevation is about 600ft. None the less this bike seems to run excessively lean just based on the fact that my fan kicks on while running down the road at 55 mph on a 65 degree morning. It is still rough at low speeds with low RPMS. I have tested for shorts and Ohmed everything I had values for. The only item that tested out of speck was the injectors. They should read 12.25 ohms mine are 12.8 ohms. This would mean my injectors require .10 fewer amps to operate with required 13.7 volts. Would that be a bad thing? Also is it possible that the O2 sensor fluctuates too much? Mine is up and down every other ignition but always with in the spec. of .1 to .8 ,any input on anything listed would be great. |

Too much assumption going on. I doubt sincerely that you can measure O2 sensor output via standard multimeter and gain an accurate reading. The engine most likely reads the 02 sensor at the moment when hot exhaust gases are flowing over it, meaning begining at around 20% after exhaust valve open then during the next 50% or so of the exhaust valve open event. I'm just guessing though. |

Thanks for the guess. The test was conducted as per the Buell service manual. Also the VDSTS gives a voltage reading. None the less I just want to find out why my bike runs like crap in closed loop operation. I don't think it is the ECM because it did the same thing with the stock ECM. Let me throw this out there, could the head temp unit be reading too hot and cause the ECM to run in a skip spark mode? Would a grounded head temp unit give that same false reading of too hot? Al your in put would be great, I've learned quite a bit reading your replies |

well this wont help any, but at least you have company..... mine runs like crap too. I have checked each sensor output repeatedly, all are within spec at given temps. very frustarting. cant get VDST to work at all most times, unless i have technoresearch actually ON THE PHONE WITH ME. very frustrating. |

Dean, are you going through a native RS232 port, or a USB adapter? If USB, what brand? There are a lot of flaky USB adapters. I get more support calls on VDSTS on that issue than anything else. AL |
