Court, That would be Friday night the 13th in Colorado, right????? What appetizer would be most likely to get the story time started, burrito, pizza, or beverages? ===== Sometimes I love the way rumors play out, as in above: "They are all over So Cal. I took one around the block." "There are none on the road as they are keeping the release under very tight wraps." Gotta love it. Time to start my local accidental sightseeing loop on the way home during the next 2-1/2 days. |

There is a reason I'm staying 3 miles down the road in Breckenridge. Maybe if I wear a cheesehead hat from Wisconsin on top of a Huskies hat from Seattle along with my windshield wiper sunglasses nobody will notice me sitting in the corner. |

José: I'm not sure I follow your point. Do you consider the blathering from the MO page credible? |

But....Buell and the boys at Buell Distributution are smart enough to realize thay have pretty well exhausted the good will of the Buell faithful. These are the folks who found out that getting a recall shock as "quickly as possible" meant over a year. Straight talk will work, semanics and wordnastics will, I fear, evoke ire. The last time cost jobs and a great ad agency a dandy account. Court |

Blake, No that stuff is just interesting information to read, process and file for future reference, like in two weeks. It's no better or worse that what is being said here. The part It will be a LONG time untill it appears in a Buell. Eric feels that he can meet emissions just fine with what he has. was the most interesting to me. __________________________________________________ Four Letters, weather, maybe space related? How about something that's been sitting on HD's shelf Since 1981? That would be the NOVA, the 800cc V-Four HD-Porsche prototyped, but never made production. |

Now that might be sweet, V-4 750-800cc, air or water cooled. Jose, do you recall if it had chain-driven overhead cams? I also think if it comes out in fuel injection only, then it might be a testbed for alternative fuels as well. Tons of development in that arena going on these days. Maybe it will have flapper valves instead of the more traditional push valves. Sometimes it's nice to have a background of hanging around machine shops and circle boats. You don't have to know a lot to see a lot. Putting on my flame-suit now. |

Either way, if Buell were gonna build something completely different, read world beating good, surely by now they'd be letting the cat out of the bag. Maybe it's that good that the minute it is on sale, it will be a massive hit. I doubt it. If it were that good someone would have spied it by now, more likely, Buell would have "allowed" it to be spied by now. Sure it will have a new motor and whatever else, but let's face up to the truth here, all the new Buell has to do is sell well and remain reliable after doing so. So let's study the target market. Well that's easy, for the majority it's a bunch (read a few thousand) of lard arsed Americans who ain't never gonna get their rocks off by thrashing it to death. The vast majority of Buellers are Americans who don't write on BADWEB. They are all around forty something , give or take, and they don't want their kicks on one of the Japanese type tricks. Buell's target market is not this sportsbike bollocks that some of us have been thinking about, more, it is the cruiser\tourer\part time sportsbike that us "grown" up types are more in need of. What does this mean ? It means Buell's new bike will more than likely be something that incorporates all tastes and adapts to many roles. It won't be a balls out Fighter nor Sportsbike, it will be a compromise. ?After all, if it were gonna be that fantastic that it blew our bleedin' socks off, we'd have heard about it by now. You can bet your bottom dollar Buell would have dangled a few carrotts by now. Nah, they're playing safe and they daren't give any hints at all because they have to live up to whatever they say, and given the past state of affairs, it's only folks like me and you that have kept the faith because we know for the majority that BMC has tried very hard to keep most of us, happy campers. Trouble is, preaching to the converted is easy. It's the non-converts that Buell need to look for if they intend to put a world beating bike on the world market. Me, I reckon the US is where they're aiming for, and I don't think the US is ready for the European type fast bike sales targets and these are the parameters that BMC will be looking at satisfying, that lard arsed American cruiser\tourer\chrome\ and sometimes (read occasionaly) faster speed mode (typically about 100mph). That's what your new Buell is gonna be. Best we rebels or hooligans can hope for is reliabilty because power is not the main issue. Sorry if this sounds a little down beat, but I just don't see Buell building anything as great as what the S1 was\is, and I certainly can't see them building a balls out racer, so I'm stuck on this compromise between the best of all worlds and that really isn't the sort of bike I'd want. I just hope I'm totally wrong and I get to eat my words. TIME WILL TELL.....ain't that a fact Rocket in England |
