Let me put it this way: DURING today's ride I expresses to the others that "once you get to know how to ride the bike then it's really quite easy." That is the highest compliment I can make about my Buell experience - remarkable, and yet it's unremarkable because it's so personal. You know? The bike and experience both connect - very powerful.

Hey, if you got the cash and the motivation, do what ever the hell you want. But don't expect anyone but you to like it. I'm calling a spade a spade here - that bike is hideous regardless of the fact that it's the result of someone's creative effluvia.

But hey, if it floats your boat, sail on, brother.

That looks about as rideable as the mutant.

It won't be long until choppers are as ubiquitous as brand-new big twins dripping in chrome and splashy paint, drag pipes proudly announcing another monkey-see, monkey-do peabrain flailing his/her new hog to a shaky stop at the next red light.

Then the typical "chopper guy" conversation will also revolve around bolt-on chrome installed by someone else and the upcoming bike wash at the local "cool guy shop."

Oh wait, it already does.

Sure does make a statement.

It's funny how even citizens realize how idiotic wannabes are, now that they're everywhere, unsuccessfully trying to ride the biggest, loudest, shiniest bikes their credit limits and wives will allow...

and looking like everyone else in the neighborhood.

That wooden bike, now that guy's on to something.

Actually the cafe racer look isn't too far of a stretch for a Buell. This one is one of my favorites...

Remember that cafe' racer sportster that HD made in 77'. Deans HD here in PA had one and couldn't sell it. The price eventually got down to $1,899 and it sat in the showroom for a year. I considered buying it but never did. It was so rare it became a collectable....

About a year ago in the Cycle Trader for NE Ohio a guy was trying to sell one of those without the motor for somewhere close to $1,800. If he would of been realistic with the price, I would of bought it.

I wanted an XLCR soooo bad when I was 15, but there was no way I could ever afford one working minimum wage jobs in the summer. For some odd reason, it always appealed to me, much more so than any Japanese or Italian bike at the time.

It may have been a commercial failure, but Willy G. penned a bike that created a little spark that never died in me and eventually lead to my Buell in 2000.

I'd still love to do a replica of one.

The clubhouse bike had some pretty cool stuff done to it. I like the sprocket and chain shift linkage. While still not my style, I like to see things that I haven't seen done before.

Ok, I am starting more trouble...Here is a good one, a guy gutting his X1 to build a chopper because it needed a shock.

I hope he does a nice job....
