Is it just me or does there seem to be A LOT more posts about various problems with everyones XB's. It seems like anymore, that is all I read about on here and it bums me out thinking that my XB is next! Could it be people having problems when you start putting aftermarket items on like pipe, open airbox and that sort of thing? Or maybe it is just getting better weather and everyone is riding a lot. | ||

I think people in general like to b!tch. If they have any problems they want to be heard. Whereas, those that do not have problems do not tend to be as vocal because they are too busy riding. Just my $.05! John | ||

I had a couple problems I asked about right after I got the bike, but after some over do maintenance mine is running really well. That and I have ordered an 06 belt kit. (knock on wood)  | ||

I haven't owned a car since I got my 2000 M2. XB9R and XB12R no issues either. Reliable? For me it's Buell or the bus (the last time I rode a bus was in Vegas, but that's another story) | ||

Probably just more people on Badweather. 1 percent of people having problem = 100 badweather members 1 person 10,000 members 1000 problems. So the good news is the more problems we have with Buells...the more Badweather members we have  aren't statistics great!! | ||

Along with what Diablobrian said, there has also been a huge increase in users. I can' even begin to think about how many "newbie" or "new to board" threads I have seen in the past 5 months. Wheres this time last year it was by far, less. | ||

My bike's running just fine! I even have over 6,000 miles on the rear 616 and the tread isn't down to the wear bars. I ain't bitching! | ||

Some of the XB's DO have reliability issues. A two year old bike with 14K miles that is correctly maintained should not suffer problems such as mine has. Cracked primary cover, faulty starter switch, and a broken clutch cable.  | ||

26,000 miles and the only problem that I've had I created. This is after numerous trips, riding to work most days, many passes down the drag strip, and several track days and races. Keith | ||

I too agree with Diablo and U4euh, there has been a huge increase in Buell owners. I say that, as for the longest time I was the only Buell on the base here in Lemoore, and now I have put together a group of 6 of us in the last 2 months!! Cool stuff, as a couple are even converts!! Bruce | ||

If you are referring to the XBoard, then I think you are reading too much into it. Most of the posts are What if . . ?, How to . . ?, & Can I . . ? It's all just good conversation.  PS. 14,000 miles on speedo but probally more like 16,000 due to speedo sensors being out. 3 speedo sensors 3 belts 1 tensioner pulley 1 clutch cable both wheel bearings Steering head bearings. 2 headlights 1 shifter output shaft seal. 1 warped rear rotor Afraid to jinx myself but the motor has run like a champ. Still this list equals more parts failures than every Jap bike I owned over 500,000 miles of riding. When a company has to update things due to premature failures the comapny should stand by their customers. I for one will never buy another Buell because of the issues with the belt, headlights and the total lack of customer service or caring from the mothership. Mostly the lack of "aftercare" of customers. Bike issues are to be expected once in awhile. Customer care and follow-up is what keeps customers loyal. I am no longer loyal. Real shame to becasue aside of the belt issues I was willing to deal with the rest of the stuff and buy another even. When they told me to pony up 500+ dollars to fix the belt they ran me off of any future Buell purchases. Oh and almost all of the dealerships are dog poop. | ||

16000 miles xb12s. Oil pressure switch and 1 belt. I have the o6 belt now. Have ridden in snow, rain and dirt. Sorry about the problems you've had sky. I am not gentle with my bike at all. Running like a champ. | ||

Skyguy, Can ya tell me what syptoms one wd. have if the cause is BAd Steering head bearings, and only that nothing else in the picture??? Thanks | ||

Hogs, The steering bearings were likely my fault. I got injured in a crash and had the bike sitting under 3 feet of snow for a couple of weeks. I was to hurt to dig it out and I suspect that the bearings got tore up from the exposure. The way to spot tore up bearing is simple. I use a block of wood, rock the bike over on the kickstand and shove the block under the pipe with my foot. When I moved the bars left to right it had a center "detent". Cheap fix if you do the work yourself. About $30.00. big easy, I ride my bike HARD! I wash it once in awhile and the motor has been awesome. It is just the belt that pisses me off............................ | ||

Skyguy put it best, the only thing that will put me off when I decide to buy a new bike (which won't be for a while) is the total lack of customer service. I know what it's like to deal with product quality issues from the job I have. How Eric and the rest of the powers that be at Buell can do what they do (or don't do) blows me away. Everyone knows there are other bike companies out there, you would think they would want to take care of their customers. However I do love my bike, in fact I just got back from putting around 200 miles on it.  | ||

Most of my failures happened in the first 20,000 miles. After that, it has been pretty much reiable barring leaks every now nad then. I had to pay for a tranny job at about 60,000 but that was just normal wear and tear for a bike that was flogged on occasion. I'm thinking that the XB series of bikes will follow a similar pattern and when most of the XBs are up to 35,000 miles, the bugs will work their way out. My X1 has been the most reiable bike that I have owned so far. | ||

I was thinking about doing an evil thing and financing a Uly but after the latest belt and poor customer service I have decided it can wait. My buddy Scott was cash in hand for a Uly but after my experience he went with a Beemer. Buells inability to deal with things like the belt and headlights does hurt their sales. I wish the brand the best but as I see it they are running off customers. I think it is best summed up with the folowing statement; Jumping over dollars to pick up pennies. |
