Blake, At 1024x768, to leave the frames, on my monitor. Use no more than 500 pixels for the width. The picture will then fit. Be of reasonable size easily fit below 35k with the proper compression and post easily. Took me several trys on my profile to get the dimensions right. Arvel |

That's why I recommend the 1280x1024 as a minimum resolution. |

Blake... do you have any control over the html image tags generated, or the image submissions constraints? I think what Arvel is saying (and that I would tend to agree with) is that 500 pixels ought to be enough for an image in any of the discusssion forums. Though you could probably make a pretty good argument that the pictures section could be bigger. Most commodity 17" monitors start to distort visibly and suffer poor refresh rates once you go above 1024x768. 1280x1024 is great for people that have it, but for the rest (I would bet 80% or more) of the internet, it is not a particularly friendly option. If you have the source for the BBS and it is C, C++, Perl, Java, or just about any other Algol derived language, I would be happy to take a look at it and see if there is an easy way to add a width constraint to the image size... But the scrolling is a minor annoyance, the site is fast, reliable, and incredibly rich in content. Thanks BUNCHES for taking the huge amount of time it takes to run it. I for one would not have bought a Buell if this resource was not available. |

Cheapharvester: The Discus BBS code is Pearl. If you are serious, I would love some help with board customizations. One idea would be to install the automatic image optimizer to the site and have it set to not only optimize/compress but also resize as required. Ping me with your evening telephone number and I'll give you a call. Thanks back at ya! It's all the great contributors like yourselves that keep this little corner of the web alive and kicking and always growing. For those interested, the following are the site activity summary stats for the last three weeks.
