Hello all, When I "lightly" flip the switch to ignition "on" and hit the electric start button the bike does not start: the tach needle jumps slightly. Then when I flip back to ignition "off" and flip it "harder" to ignition "on" the bike fires up. Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what is the remedy? I am looking through my manual and in section 7.19 there's a page with a diagram and a list of "switch connectors." Which switch connector operates the ignition on/off button? Are these parts replaceable and repairable? Thanks! Chris 98' Thunderbolt s3 |

Maybe as simple as the switch just worn out..if the switch is shot it wont make contact. |

If you are referring to the ignition on/off pod next to the throttle, the pod and harness are available, but the internal parts are not. First, I would suggest shooting some contact cleaner into the pod via the gaps around the buttons and by loosening the pod itself Second, you can disassemble the ignition on/off pod and check/clean the parts and reassemble. No schematics available and you are on you own with this option. Third, and possibly should have been first, run on down to your local Buell dealer and just buy the replacement pod with harness. I bought a pair of replacement pods for my X1 two years ago and if I recall correctly, the left was around $23 and right around $28. Pretty cheap, eh? Lastly, it could just be your keyed ignition switch. I remember reading about quite a few failures on the BWB. Perhaps you can find the subject in the Knowledge Vault. Good Luck!!! |
