Well, after contacting the dealership all week to check the status of my bike, I was told she was ready. I was told that the tech couldnt find anything wrong with my bike but a discharged battery. I explained to the service writer that the battery became discharged while riding, much like it did when the stator went out, she said she would have the tech recheck it. I called back later and was told that the problem was intermitent and that they could not find it, and that my bike was ready for pickup. I showed up to pick up my bike and was told I have to pay 64.00 for diagnostics. I asked the service writer why I had to pay anything because they could not give me a diagnosis, not to mention my bike is still under the factory warranty? He turned his back on me and said to another writer standing there "your having to deal with this one". I talked to the next service writer and got the same story, I then politely asked for the service manager. After waiting around for about thirty minutes he finally comes out and motions me to follow him outside, mind you I am on my best behavior during all this, no cursing, no yelling. He made it very clear that he was frustrated with me from the start, talking down to me like I have no knowledge of how shops work and talking to me like I owed him something. I went ahead and paid the fee because I was really starting to lose my patience and I felt like I was on the verge of laying this guy out. I will say this, I am a shop foreman for a very busy shop in the Round Rock/Austin area, and we do not charge our customers for diagnostics if we cannot give them a diagnosis. I understand that a tech has time into a vehicle but I dont think you should be paid for nothing. Everything is earned at our shop and it keeps my techs honest.
I feel like I got shafted and will not be doing business with Central Texas Harley Davidson/Buell again.I dont care if I have to drive across this state to buy parts, they will never get another cent from me.
Anyone wanting to do business with me, mail order or locally, hit me up, because CTHD just lost my business as well as all my friends business.

El Diablo.

I too have worked in a lot of shops but we never charged a fee for finding nothing wrong with a vehicle under warranty. I agree with you. Take your business elsewhere.

I've been charged for misdiagnosis (on my truck)--and the buggers did nothing towards helping or reimbursing me when I came back and got them to confirm their own misdiagnosis! Yeah, that kind of treatment does little to inspire customer loyalty...

Agreed. Call customer service about this. Let them take the dealer to task.

Thanks guys, I'll call customer care in the morning. Mainly just wanted to vent, I still love my XB as much as when I brought her home, but just like every other woman in my life, no one will be touching her but me from now on.

Man I commend you on your restraint while there. I would have had a hard time keeping it under control with those comments. I would call Harley and Buell customer service. Then, would park my butt on the curb out front with a BIG sign saying "ask me about my experience here". If they tell you to move on tell em to kiss you arse, the curb is public property, there is an easement. I know, "I dont have time to sit there", but me, I would make it happen, thats just the prick I am. If they threaten to call the cops, ask them too, you'd like to report a theft anyway. They extorted the fee from you and wouldn't let you have your keys till you paid it.
