Just looking for some opions about Corbin seats. If anyone has had one or if thereare any other seats that i should look at for those longer rides. | ||

I've had all but the new select seat, and none can compete with my corbin...(after the break-in) It was like a leather covered cinder block the first 1000 miles.. | ||

I have a $180 model I bought off ebay from st. paul Harley davidson (they sell in an online store) and it's the most comfortable I have ever sat on. I had the original seat and the low profile one, both of which are mortal enemies of my kidneys. Much happier now. | ||

Just asked Corbin about urnaround time... "Due to the ship time to our various distributors and current production times it will take app. 4-6 weeks to receive your seat at the original location where you placed your order." | ||

I've owned 3 Corbin seats now and consider their product a necessary option for long rides. The trick to a Corbin (aside from break in) is to customize your order. I'm only 5'6" with narrow hips so my seating surface is shaped appropriately and the seat is narrow at the front so my feet can sit flat on the ground at lights. I got mine through Al at American Sport Bike. For me he is local. | ||

I ordered my mine directly from Corbin. It was custom made to my specs, and arrived at my door in less than 2 weeks. Great seat, even on 500+ mile days. (Message edited by tpoppa on June 01, 2006) | ||

I put the Corbin on my 06' XB9SX and I love it. It took a little work to mount it (spacers under hook that goes into latch), but it fits like a glove now. It is definitely very firm, but this makes the bike more responsive to body movement. I've taken the bike on long trips and whereas it is firm and will require some break-in, I love it. It looks much better than stock as well. | ||

I just received my Corbin seat yesterday after ordering it from Al at American Sport Bike awhile back. Did anybody have any problems putting their Corbin seat on? I had to adjust both brackets and modify one in order to get it to line up with the holes. | ||

I love the corbin on my 12S. Have about 2k miles on it and like my other corbins it just keeps getting better. Rode 1100 miles over memorial day weekend on my cruiser (has a corbin dual tour on it), and my butt was fine. As for them fitting, it is a known issue. I got mine from AL as American Sport Bike also. He sent me a set of instructions about how to get them to fit. I didn't have to modify brackets on mine. Just trim the bump pads down a bit so the back end would latch. | ||

I scratched the Corbin Order, lousy attitude and customer service. And Yes, I have had a previous one on my ZX7. If you want to add backrest, etc. they get really expensive. The lousy attitude that killed the deal was two fold. They wouldn't give me the "Bike Week" discount, 10% I think, because I didn't close the deal at Bike Week but just got the info and called in later. AND, even though I could pick it up at their shop in Daytona, they insisted on still charging me shipping from Calif.??? I found a Select Seat in stock at Port Charlotte HD and had it shipped in 2 days for about 10 bucks in shipping, not the 30 or so CORBIN was going to charge. I also have seen "Mike...." wasn't that impressed at the time, many years and races ago. | ||

Guess what? They have raised the price over 150 BUCKs in the last year. They were 209 last year, last month they were 229, NOW they are 349 DOLLARS , plus shipping !!! As I said, lousy attitude in in general. I will stick with the BUELL stuff. | ||

Apples/oranges. I bought the Buell Custom seat, then the Corbin for my XB12R. First off, the fit is totally different. The Buell is tall and totally cush, just right for a rider who was going to lower his pegs anyway. Adds leg and arm room. Too much stretch for my short legs and arms: the burn transferred from my butt to right between my shoulders, my hands went to sleep from all the weight on them, and the reach resulted in the Dread Grip of Death and yes, weaving. The Corbin is for sawed-off riders like me, who find the factory ergos perfect and don't want any change in the seat except (1) no butt burn and (2) not to slide forward and have to scootch back. The Buell Custom is made of vinyl and built (very economically) like the stocker. The Corbin is vinyl on the sides, leather on the top, steel bracket even for the rear screws, closed cell foam, contoured for max contact area, fits incredibly tight (had to put the wrench end of a 3/8 extension against the rear mount and tap it in before screwing down), and so far as build quality is concerned, is probably overkill if you keep your bike garaged (I don't have a garage so I appreciate it). But basically, the Corbin (I called Dave and he had one on the shelf at BWB discount!) saved me $260 in not having to buy a Heli top triple, which I would have needed with the Buell Custom. PS, with our sponsors, you have to deal with *retail* prices? |
