I have searched and read, but still have a question. I crashed my wifes bike in gravel. dented up the right side of the frame, no slider  My research here says frame crunch = totaled. Is this the prevailing opinion? I could put a slider over it, and either claim it or not? opinion? I had polished the frame, so If It was repaired filler to cosmetically fix it I would need to repaint | ||

Ask Slaughter. He is extremely knowledgeable on all things Buell, none more than the exigencies of impact damage. If you can cover it with a puck, and it runs straight and true, my instinct, while awaiting word from the more experienced, would be to puck and ride. Cost fifty bucks. Next time, you might consider the more conventional strategy of appllying puck on a pre impact basis  (Message edited by gentleman_jon on June 02, 2006) | ||

A lot of racebikes get dented or start their life as street bikes that got dinted and the insurance company wrote them off. If it's good enough for the track I gotta beleive it's good enough for the street. | ||

It's just dented, right? I found myself in that same situation with my XB. I had low-sided on a back road after running out of talent before running out of nerve. My solution was a little All-Metal body filler, a can of Buell Frame Paint, and a set of Buell frame pucks. No one's the wiser. If you insist on replacing the frame, the frame is about $1300.00 plus labor. | ||

It seems to me that most if not all of the structural integrity of the frame come from the inner portion. So far I haven't heard of a dented frame causing any issues at all. Of course, the insurance companies don't know this so they total the bike after they tally up the dent removal costs (new frame etc...). | ||

M1: That is an awesome point. Salvage XB's would be a great buy. |
