You've got to have something of a mud guard for the back of the tire. The front of your engine will be extra nasty after all the road grime starts hitting it. Nice look though. What do you have planned for exhaust?  | ||

I've been thinking this through too! i like the new Uly front fender that Trojan sells, can those be adopted to the XB you think? saw another cool Uly one somewhere that had an aluminum 'mud' support on top. enduro dirt bike style. | ||

i have a uly fender on my city x and im going to be cutting it down so its shorter. It was nice because it bolts right up afeter you take the headlight support off . good luck | ||

Thats just photo - chop. real-life, I do aluminum fab work: for the engine, i was planning on having the skid plate wrap around the front slightly, and come up into some sort of mud-guard. Up top, I plan to add a lower, aluminum cowl piece below the translucid flyscreen. Net intent is to give it ~2" more height, and 1" forward, so I have space for a GPS, etc. ( did anyone notice that the translucid was already extended in that chop?) for the muffler, I've been eyeballing a Ducati style 'stealth' carbon fiber can for the rear end. route the pipe down the LHS, below the shifter. move the passenger pegs outboard slightly, and route the pipe between the peg ( heatshield) and under the seat. Build a 1 piece aluminum rear cowl that moves the tail light, and indicators ~ 6" farther back, and mount the muffler can under the new rear end. it ends up looking 90% like that photoshop, but with a rear cowl similar to a Uly, and the ability to 2 up, with luggage on. wheel travel wouldn't change, but clearance would be pretty decent for backroads work. only reason I haven't got more of it done, is i only picked up my XB 2 weeks ago, and I'm having way too much fun breaking it in, and learning how it handles! | ||

all you have to do is look under your headlight bucket. there will be a small metal braket . remove the braket and the uly fender will replace the mount point. the only problem i have is the headlights are now aimed to high . if i adjust them down anymore the fender will contact the tire under hard braking. that is why im cutting it shorter. sorry my camera isnt working right now . i will post some pics soon if it starts to work. later . | ||

I've been thinking this through too! i like the new Uly front fender that Trojan sells This one would probably fit the City X/XBS models, but would need to be trimmed at the rear to clear the engine/exhaust headers. Bear in mind that the other models have shorter forks and steeper rake/trail than the Ulysses, so there will be less room to fit something like this on the S models.   | ||

Sub65, thanks for the info. pics would be great. so you used a stock Uly front, right? Matt, thats the fender i was talking about. i was looking at the mount point on my S last weekend and it looks like the metal tab you see in the photo above could bolt on perfectly. makes sense the back would need a trim. how about those fork guards, do those use the same mount points as the S front fender? | ||

Dirt bike front fenders come in many colors and sizes (full size, 80cc and mini) and can be cut to your own taste. I used a KTM mx front fender on my S1 and like the way it turned out. pic in profile | ||

Thanks Typeone! I mounted the fender by drilling a small hole halfway through the lower triple clamp and threading it and then with the use of a spacer mounted it above the lower clamp. | ||

Buellfighter, you should do your bike some justice and put more pics of it up, that is some damn fine work. How do you like that Acerbis headlight, I had one on my KTM and it didn't work for sh!t. | ||

Thanks Rafartist! Yeah your right Rafartist, the acerbis headlight not so bueno in the lighting dept. I put it on for the looks but had no idea how bad it illuminated. I eventually removed the clear lens covers and now it works twice as good (half as shltty) than used to. Seems the curvature of the covers has a diffusing effect and removing them makes the system usable! | ||

love the RH air intake on that trojan bike - is the left the same, or an OE scoop? ( and how well does that setup work?) also - rear (passenger) pegs on the trojan bike? are they mounted down low on the swing arm, or ??? (Message edited by ulendo on June 01, 2006) | ||

those scoops come in pairs so both sides will match that is how the pegs are on the ulysses, passenger and rider pegs are on the same mount (Message edited by pupu on June 01, 2006) | ||

ah - my bad: for some reason I just couldnt make out the sub-frame on the trojan bike. gonna have to get more info on those scoops though - that looks 'way' cleaner than the stock bug catcher. | ||

i have since removed the "front screens" on those scoops. i think it lets more air in that way. they seem to work just fine for me. worth the price in my opinion.  | ||
