This one snuck up on me.... This Thursday is the first Thursday of an even month, which means it is SCAB meeting night. Be at Knollwoods in Yorba Linda at 7:30 for a few hours of burgers, beer, and Buell talk. Knollwoods is in the shopping center at the intersection of La Palma Ave And Imperial Hwy, just north of the 91, see http://maps.google.com/maps?q=yorba+linda,+CA&ll=33.859796,-117.794380&spn=0.040 965,0.070694&hl=en I think I'm riding the Uly to this one. Anyone else riding up from San Diego? See ya there! Al |

Hey Al, I've been thinking about riding up. I'm a bit wary of LA traffic (and at night to boot!) but I'm willing to make the trip. When were you thinking about taking off? - Chris |

I figure on leaving the shop around 5:30. Makes for a nice ride up there with the sun over the water to the west. We'll hit the orange Crush (tustin area) at about 6:30, lane split past most of it to the 57, and it's generally clear sailing from there. The 10:00 PM ride home this time of year is a bit cool, especially the length of Pendleton, so dress warmly. I'll probably wear my chaps to keep from getting too cold on the way back home. If you want, we can meet at Bigg's oceanside at 5:45. Let me know if you are going to so I can plan accordingly. Al |

I can't make the SCAB meetings on Thursday nights due to a conflict with another meeting. But could there be a date, time & place established to drop off camping gear to carry in the LuvShak for Laguna? Thx, Sparky |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a new press release from SCRAMP concerning traffic and parking. Basically, unless you have paid for camping or other packages that require a car, you won't be bringing a car into the track. Ride that motorcycle!! http://www.laguna-seca.com/PressReleases/index.cfm?ID=215 MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC PLAN FOR RED BULL U.S. GRAND PRIX Plan Will Allow Better And Quicker Entrance and Exit To The Largest Event In Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca History MONTEREY, Calif. (April 14, 2006) – The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) announced today a traffic plan for improving the flow of vehicles and spectators in and out of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 21-23. Highlights of the plan include all general admission parking off-site, with spectators transported via shuttle bus; a motorcycle-only entrance; and increased staffing and directional signage. The plan will immediately limit the number of automobiles permitted on-site at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca by providing free off-site parking at Cal State University – Monterey Bay (CSUMB) located near Monterey just off of Highway 1. From there, all spectators will be shuttled by bus onto Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through the South Boundary Road entrance. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will continue to allow spectators to enter with personal belongings (cameras, backpacks, personal coolers, etc.), but these must be able to sit on the riders lap. “Our first goal was to reach a solution that limited the number of automobiles on-site, and the shuttle bus system should allow us to do that efficiently. The parking is conveniently located just off of Highway 1, and will remain free of charge,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/General Manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “This is a system that works well for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament, and should help us eliminate some of the traffic strain both into the facility and throughout the community during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” All motorcyclists will be provided free parking at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Wolf Hill, traditionally the automobile parking area at spectator events. Motorcycles will enter and exit on Barloy Canyon Road, located off of Reservation Road in Marina. No automobiles will be allowed to enter or exit on this road. “Part of the charm of a MotoGP World Championship event is that, by its nature, it becomes the largest motorcycle gathering many people will ever witness. We wanted to ensure that continued,” Campbell said of continuing motorcycle parking on-site at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “We hope this will encourage even more of our avid motorcycling base to ride to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” “We’ve pledged to improve our efficiency at the admission gates; if spectators, particularly those traveling by motorcycle, can assist us by having their tickets easily available we’ll make the entry process as painless and enjoyable as possible for everyone at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” The only automobiles on-site will be those with parking passes, such as those purchased through Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in hospitality packages or teams, media and officials. These automobiles will be able to enter through one lane of South Boundary Road (shuttles will be entering in the same direction in the opposite lane) until 2:00 p.m. each day, at which point the traffic flow will be reversed and the same automobiles will exit on the same road. Teams, media and officials will enter and exit the main gate through Highway 68. A limited number of general public on-site parking passes for Wolf Hill parking are available through Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, at a weekend price of $50. These passes are available for advance purchase only. Additionally, as with all events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, spectators will be able to ride for free on Monterey–Salinas Transit (MST). A shuttle schedule for MST on event weekends, including bus stops on the Monterey Peninsula and in Salinas, will be available at www.mst.org. “One of our main goals for the 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix was to dramatically improve the traffic situation during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix,” said Campbell. “We strongly believe we’ve accomplished that. Now we can continue to grow and improve the MotoGP experience for all involved.” Tickets for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s 50th Season of Racing, including the U.S. Sports Car Invitational featuring the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series May 5-7, the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 21-23, the 33rd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races August 18-20 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 20-22, are on-sale now. |

Those wanting to ride together to Laguna Seca, let's get a dialog going here. I'm planning to ride up Thursday. July 20. My preferences are to take PCH 1, start around 8 am from the Starbucks at the end of the Marina Fwy (90) and Lincoln Blvd (Hwy 1) near Bartels' HD/B. Anybody else want to do this? |

Sparky, Are you planning to blast all the way to LS on Thursday? Laurie and I are heading out on Thursday but we are only going as far as San Luis Obispo to kick back at the Thursday evening summer street fair there. Friday, we will be going through Fort Hunter Liggett, then down the back mountain way to Big Sur, and up highway 1 to Monterey. I suspect Laurie will not be amenable to an 8AM departure from Bartels as we will be heading up from San Diego. But don't wait up for us. Let's see what happens in the next few weeks. I am agnostic on the route from San Diego to SLO just as long as it contains a curve or two. |

Jack, That is an awesome development! We will be in SLO by beer-thirty. Will work out details manana or the manana-after-manana. The Comfort Inn is a 5-15 minute walk to downtown depending on the prevailing winds and sobriety levels. Are you up for a peaceful easy Ft.Hunter Leggett/Big Sur run before three DAYS of ear splitting badass LS craziness? |

Hey guys - to paraphrase... "I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this board everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity I need! My name in print! That really makes somebody! Things are going to start happening to me now." Yep, I have officially become out of the closet, with my very own name and everything. I guess its something I should have done long ago. Anyway, wanted to say howdy to the SoCali folks. Laguna Seca looks like it should be spectacular this year - wish I could be there too! Joanne |

Hi Slaughter and Sunny, you guys are welcome anytime! and thank, Ebear, although I'm not sure claim that title! I have to play that weekend by ear, as I might have to catch up on things at the shop. Might make it for the races with Zach, but probably not able to do much more than that. Al has some plans that weekend, but as Ebear said, he can answer that one... |

S&S, No can do, we're going to Miller this weekend for the AMA races. Bummer they had to be the same weekend... But please mention to any Buellers that are there to check the American Sport Bike sponsor section for BBQ details. Its in Buellton the weekend of October 14/15, which supposedly is between the WSRC (?) and AFM race weekends. Al |
