Odie from special ops is a true professional... I bought the Heat barriers and let me tell its a hell of a difference.... Super good quality you think this came from a factory but he's a one man show doing good for us buellers... He even went out of he way to and traded me my Cut tail for a uncut tail so I can finally mount my blinder unit... Thank You Odie.... MY MASKED AND PAINTED AIR BOX...    While I'm here does any one know how to get this black crap off my headers I'm used polish and am slowly making progress with a sos pad but its a bitch.. Somebody said oven cleaner but couldn't that etch the aluminum?  Once a Marine always a Marine! | ||

i wet sanded my pipes with 600 and used a high speed buffer with regular automotive compound....then hand polised with mothers.  | ||

your headers are NOT aluminum , they are stainless steel. there is a thread started already on polishes and such. check it out...there is actually a new polish that my wife found (i know  ) called MAAS POLISH. was invented by some mother and a chemist for cleaning stainless, copper, brass etc. seems to be real good stuff. wipe on w/ very little effort and WHAMMMMY!! it's nice and shiny. i'll know more on it when i get the tube and try it out myself. was the winner in some magazine over lots of other brands. may be worth checking it out some more tho. | ||

What kind of difference did the heat barrier make? You mean it reduced the air intake temp and you measured more power? Or are you talking about the under-seat barrier to keep your rear from cooking? | ||

I have the under seat heat barrier and the intake barrier that goes under the airbox base... I have a Temp Gun at work if I get a chance this weekend I'll run the bike out there and shoot the seat with and without the barrier.. As far as the intake I'll shoot it as well... I should of took a measurement before I had it on... You can physically tell the difference... In the seat and Air box.. I can ride in the afternoon heat of florida and not feel heat from the seat and from the rear of the air box...  I know the headers are stainless but the more parts around it are not... I could probably spray some on a rag and wipe it on... Also Oven cleaner will take paint off and remove the anodizing from aluminum Once a Marine always a Marine! | ||

Thats my daily driver for over 2 years now.. I have to get rid of her this summer  we just had a baby a few months ago part of the deal me getting a bike again was getting a safer cage with AC for the little man... I'll have another again in a few years.. 1964 VW  Once a Marine always a Marine! | ||

oh, man, heartbreaking! looks fantastic. but congrats on the new addition  i had a slammed '73 back in the day, made to look like a '68. currently caring for a '66 Porsche 912. finally graduated up to the 'big brother'. love thems vintage dubs + p-cars. thnx for the pic. | ||

I just bought the heat barrier stuff from special OPS for my XB12Ss and it does make a big differences in the heat that come from under the seat and from under the the air box, it works, thats all I know.  | ||

Nice, when your bodywork is clear what's under it has to be clean! I had a piece of heat shield from under the tank of our old sv650 race bike that I cut to fit under the seat, and that seems to do the trick for me. Heat shielding material is not as easy to come by as you would think, except for incredibly bulky stuff. I will end up buying one of Odie's heat shields for under the air box one of these days. Until then I applied a layer of the aluminum tape to the bottom of my air box. It seems to work as the poor man's heat shield for now. My son referred to it as my "Alien baked potato" when he saw me doing it. I'd rather sweat than bleed, wouldn't you? White is definitely the FASTEST color Buell. | ||

Typeone, my father is currently working on a '62 'vert. Has a built 2110? stroker for it, dual Dellorto's etc etc etc. Currently putting on Airkewld's bag set up and disc brake set up. Not finished yet, but gets closer month by month. Is your 'vert gonna be on www.thesamba.com? | ||
