HI every one, I need new tires on my 2000 M2. What is a good tire now ,I dont do a lot of sport riding. I ride in the city and on the highway, but i still want a good sticky tire that will last a long time . THANKS. | ||

I'd recommend Michelin Pilot Roads. I've a set on my S3 for about a year now and I'm very happy with the handling and wear. | ||

The Pilots are the best (IMHO) all around. That being said I've not tried the Avon's and Crusty has praised them. G2 | ||

Since I asked the same question and someone told me they liked the Metzelers, I picked up a set of M1's. (I can't vouch for them yet) but if you want to try them out, the price is right @ 170 a set from atlantasportbike.com (I think $20 to ship) | ||

I just put pilot roads on my 02 M2 and am pretty happy with em. they could be a little stickier, but I wanted to get more than 2-4K out of them. I figure I shouldnt be at maximum lean angle on the street anyway so why would I need race grade tires, with the super stickies Id probably push it harder than I should. Of course if moneys no object Id go with the stickiest things out there, but if your only riding street its overkill unless your riding the street like its a race track  (Message edited by freeflyer on May 24, 2006) | ||

I have ran Dunlops,Metzelers,Michelins,Avons,and Continentals on my Buell(s)and the Continental Road Attack has been by far the best.The mileage,feeling of confidence and handling are all great.I have a friend that rides a Buell and just switched from the Continental to the Avon and he hates it.He is switching back to the Continental as soon as the wallet allows him to.I started running the Continental Road Attack about 3 years ago and unless they stop making it I will not use anything else. | ||

I'm on my second set of Metzler Sportecs, M3 this time. Got over 15K miles on the front. When I first made the switch form the stock Dunlops, it was like getting a new, much more responsive bike. | ||

I'll second the Continental Road Attack. Just put a set on my 2000 M2 and have no complaints. Can't comment on the mileage, but feel and handling is indeed great. Search the net for 'Canyonchasers' and read their review. | ||

The Mertzler Z6's might be a good choice. I put them on my M2 to replace the stock tires this spring. I have 2,000 on them so far and they feel wonderful and are wearing well. As a pure guess, I'd think I'll get 6,000 to 8,000 miles out of them, maybe more. Donald's report of getting 15,000 out of an M3 front sort of confirms my guess. How much he got out of the rear M3 would be interesting to know. I don't like the idea of tires lasting more than 3 or 4 years because the rubber can start to harden and break down from UV exposure. Sticky and high mileage are sort of mutually self exclusive but the M3's pick that up where the track tires stop and carry it part way across the street/sport riding range. The Z6's overlap the M3's a little and are in the middle of the range. If you had to rank the Metzlers from most sticky (on the left) to most mileage (on the right) they would be something like this: K1 K2 M3 M1 Z6 Z4 Z2 The K series tires are considered track tires so I'd expect them to be pretty short lived. When it comes to buying tires, you have to be honest with yourself. When I get to feeling frisky am I going to run this bike into my favorite corner,get it on down there, just to remember what it use to feel like. Well tires are the biggest safety feature you got.That good "ole economy hard high mileage tire" you bought is going to bite you in the you know where. Because after a bunch of heat cycles, when it brakes loose it won't stop slidding till something stops it.OUCH! If your ever gonna play, give up some mileage for SAFETY....Oh ya I like the soft Avons | ||

I'm happy with the Pilot Roads.Good all around performance and great mileage.8000 km so far and still good for another 4000km. They feel sometimes a little bit hard or "wooden",a little bit bumpie. Next time I will try the Road Attack. Ralph (Message edited by xldevil on June 09, 2006) | ||

I have run Bridgestone's BT -01's and Michelin's Pilots but my favorite tire so far is the Avon Azaros 45 & 46. Good feel, good traction and the best tire life on my bike by far. | ||

Cyclone, I agree, same tires I have on my clone(45&46 ST) on the Firebolt I have the Azaros "SPORT" really like them too. | ||

Avon Azaro's on the S3 are the way to go. Much better ride quality than the Dunlops and the mileage is better. YOU CAN NOT HAVE HIGH MILEAGE AND A STICKY GOOD HANDLING TIRE AT THE SAME TIME. I agree with the statement of "go for the safety factor over long life" It is the wrong thread but FWIW, the Avon's are also going on the Ulysses ASAP. | ||

Just picked up a set of Metzeler M1's. Havn't had a chance to really push them but the bike feels so much better. It really feels like it wants to turn and hold the road. Way better than the Dunlops. | ||

time for me to find a harder longer lasting tire dow here... No twisties... Plus, I think the hot roads are MELTING my Dunlops away..I have less than 2 k on the rear and its on the wear bars already... Anyway....I have NEVER mixed brands before..but, I need a littel harder tire...no reaason for the sticky ** Dunlops.. Chase | ||

I swapped out the Dunlops on my S3T with a pair of Metzler Roadtec Z6s...great tires...Only 1000 miles or so on them right now, so I can't really say what the wear situation is going to be... | ||

I run Bridgestone Battlax on my '99 M2 The front is a BT014 and when I ordered a matching rear I got a BT020. Seems to work ok the rear is a sport tour tire and the front is softer. I have not tried them in any rain yet though. 2700 miles and they look new. We got some serious sport riding done in Mo. and Ark. | ||

Not sure if I chimed in earlier.... I really like the Metzeler M1 for the money (about $210/pair shipped). I've done 2 track days, 2 weeks around Deal's Gap plus another couple thousand miles.
