Kahuna, thanks for the info, I was suspecting as much. Swapping the front mount doesn't look to be a big job-I don't think it is a stressed portion of the frame/engine. Caboose, how does this Wednesday a.m. sound ? Are you in the Hamilton area ? If you are I can combine it with an errand to Stoney Creek. |

No not a big job at all, the only thing is that you'll need to lift the back of the bike by the frame. The easieat way is to hang your bike from your garage ceiling, or the hard way (the way i did it) by putting two automotive stands under the foot pegs. Finally, you might want to pick up Cabooses' updated "Y" style muffler hanger (that comes off as part of the front shock mount), that'll save you a few muffler tabs! Let me know if you need help, besides, I hear we're going to be neighbors |

pm sent Foggy... Got in before me K. I have the exhaust mount and a centre stand that hooks underneath the footpegs and lifts the rear wheel. It is adjustable, not sure if it'll fit your Buell though??? (Message edited by Caboose on May 15, 2006) |

Caboose, could you send again-deleted by accident. Sorry. Kahuna, thanks for the tips. I have a centrestand for my bike that works off the footpeg mounts. Will that work ? I updated my exhaust hangers last year after the mounts failed. |

Yeah, that should work fine.... You may need a breaker bar, I found it to be a complete PITA to get those damn shock bolts loose. You're home free after that. Hope to see you on Saturday. |

too good to be true- great day, great ride, picked up my new/used shock & mount from Jay,breakfast at westtown, Snake rd., cedar springs - then started getting more vibration/noise then normal. Stopped to check-both rear isolators ripped. 23,300 miles. None in stock at Jacox (Tue. earliest), so no chance of trying to do this Sat. with some help. Also have them checking to see if this is still covered under that goodwill warranty mentioned on badweb. Anyone replace theirs recently. Advice ? Tools ? Buy a Triumph ?! |

Brett, I've got a pair of isolators new in the box. I'll bring them Saturday to Michael's Tech Day. See you then, Lawrence

Brett, how is your belt looking? I think this also might be your golden opportunity to change your it. dont you think Lornce? This will certainly be extremely valuable experience, as I'm hoping to change all isolators, swing arm and head bearings this coming winter! L, I have an S1 service manual in electronic format, do you want me to print any sections of it for this Saturday? ps. Dont fret Brett! My S1 went through much worse last summer, and I hated the bike for it. Everything is fixed now and all is forgotton |

Can an isolator r & r be done at a tech day time and tool wise ? What tools needed ? My belt looks o.k. to me ...? No wheelies or other stresses on it. Shouldn't they go 50,000 miles ? What about swing arm bearings ? Rapidly running out of time to obtain other parts before Saturday. |

"Brett.... I think this also might be your golden opportunity to change your it." Don't know how your it's doing, Brett, but my it seems to be fine. Certainly no need to go changing my it. My track bike's still got the original belt at 37k miles, and it's seen lots of drama. I wouldn't bother. Swingarm bearings orta be fine, too, if they're lubed and adjusted properly. We orta be able to handle an isolator re&re, assuming Michael's got somewhere to hang your bike from the ceiling of his garage. Bring some tie down straps for hanging the bike. |

Any Buellers from the Hamilton area riding tomorrow? Would like to get out and meet some locals if possible. There's more to life than bikes, but none of them are worth mentioning.

I'm sure you've made a VERY happy man out of MG, Lornce! Good on you (as you say )... Was fun hangging out this weekend. I'm working on a potential ride for this coming Saturday. An early start, followed by an authentic Middle Eastern breakfast in Scarberia, followed by the worlds most delicious Baklawa. Then a tour of the Kawarthas (with highlights such as, Balsam Lake, Gull Lake, Haliburton, Buckhorn Rd #3, Hwy 507, Pigeon Lake) with the final stop at Mosport! This will take the better part of the day, with an estimated arrival time of 3:00pm Mosport local time . Not sure what people are in the mood for, but this will definitely not leave much time for Duc watching (I think the track day wraps up at 5pm?) Whad'ya guys think? |

Excellent news Lornce! I'm in too How about an 8am meeting off the Gardiner @ the Jameson exit? We will depart from there to Lawrence east (how appropriate!) of the DVP to the Arz Bakery for breakfast, then a very short scoot to Royal Pastries (AKA best baklawa in the world). Then the fun begins, 361km (the long way) to Mosport! Lornce, would you do the honors of notifying the masses? Look forward... K |

Awww Crap! I musta left my dead blow SMACK-O-METERtm at your place Michael, and I need to do some smackin. Ah well, hafta buy a bigger one I guess. Howz about you cats come up Wiarton ways instead- I'm designated Zoo keeper this weekend and can't go as far as you guys are planning. The price I pay for summers off... Great times up here keeping these monkeys from killing themselves, today's lesson was DON'T PUT EFFING DIESEL IN GAS GENERATORS. Yesterday's lesson being Oxygen masks seal much better when they're on your face the right side up. Oh,and diving helmets work much better with the air hose connected to them. Sometimes I cry a little bit for no apparent reason. |
