I was checking the coils using the VDSTS software and immediately afterward I smelled something burning in my bike. It was coming from the front portion of the bike, not from under the seat. The engine was not running and it was a distinct electrical smell. I shut off the ignition and unplugged the cable and the scent went away. Afterward, I tested the coils again and all was fine. Anybody else have a similar problem with the software? The bike runs fine and I can't find the source of the burning. Strange. |

You might be smelling ozone if the secondary wire has had any arcing outside the engine. If that happened you should be able to hear it arc though. |

I noticed a burning smell the last couple times that I parked the Uly and after further examination I found that a zip tie melted behind the rear pipe at the head and the tranny breather (3/8" rubber hose) was touching the pipe. It smelled a lot like an electrical issue. I put several new zip ties much lower down on the hose to avoid meltdown. |
