From a Buell Dealer Communications Letter Dated May 12, 2006: May 12, 2006 To: All Buell Dealers Subject: BUELL XBRR RETURNS TO AMA FORMULA XTREME ACTION AT INFINEON Dear Dealer: Hot news from Buell Motor Company! Two Buell dealerships are teaming up to enter the Buell XBRR in the AMA Formula Xtreme class during Round 4 of the 2006 AMA Superbike Championship May 19-21 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Hal’s Harley-Davidson/Buell (New Berlin, WI) and Warr’s London Harley-Davidson/Buell (UK), which fielded separate entries in the Daytona 200 season opener in February, will team up to enter a single XBRR with Irish MotoGP star Jeremy McWilliams aboard. McWilliams raced Buell in the Formula Xtreme this season and qualified 8th aboard an XBRR at the Daytona 200 in March. If your dealership is in the vicinity of Infineon Speedway, we encourage you and your customers to attend the race on May 20th. The race will also be broadcast on SPEED Channel on Tuesday, May 23rd at 5 p.m. Eastern time and 2 p.m. Pacific time. |

Now there is a third dealer who will be there, as H-D Buell of Vallejo was offered a deal to buy a bike if we could get our team there next week. It's only 11 miles for us and I worked all day yesterday to round up the team for Thurs, thru Sat with AMA Cards. ... God this job is great. ... Terry, Congrats to you and Shawn Reilly! Shawn should be able to do well at Infineon with an XBRR. Jim (Message edited by jima4media on May 13, 2006) |

Go, Terry and Shawn, GO!! Home field advantage. I bet there's lot more advantage than at a football game. I'm sure Shawn knows every corner and transition like the back of his hand. What a cool opportunity to step up into the big leagues! Go V.P.S.! |

Shawn is out there today. I haven't gotten confirmation as to whether or not the bikes have arrived yet, but he planned on riding the RR today. Leigh is down there setting up things for LV. I'll get a report from her soon. Vik |

Shawn has gotten 4 sessions in, as has McWilliams. Shawn is working on setting the bike up for himself. Last session McWilliams was turning 44's with a best of a 42 and Shawn was turning 46's. He is confident that there is much more speed to be found, he just needs to dial it in. Vik |

We stopped by the track after a nice ride around Berryessa.Saw three XBRR's,one in demo tent, and then the Warrs/Hal's bike and Shawns/HD of Vallejo bike.Very sexy bikes in person and ungodly quiet. Not like what we are used to at all. Jeremy was very fast and Shawn is trying to get bike set for his weight. We saw the last practice session and bikes/riders were doing well.

Dang, Shawn looks pretty big for a racer guy..how much does he weigh...about 210? Look how much smaller McWilliams is. I am getting excited and I don't even get to watch the race until Tuesday...what a rip! Jimidan |

Just got home from the track following a "Rain Out" for all practice and qualifying. Tomorrow will be a One Shot combined practice and qualifying. Shawn is well off the pace but having a great time on the bike. He is still not as fast as he is on our little bike, but with just a one day set-up and the forks being under-sprung we are doing OK. There are several cool things about the bike that I can share over the next few weeks. ... Wish us good weather for tomorrow and then who knows what will happen. ... Terry. ... General Manager VPS |

What a class act Jeremy is. He came over to help with suspension setting while still wearing his leathers. I'm dead tired. Shawn was able to make some changed to the bike that should help out a lot. Hopefully, we'll see tomorrow. Vik |

I notice that the AMA cancelled the whole afternoon session because of rain. Don't they race in the rain in the US? If they cancelled every session in England because of rain we'd never go racing I would think that Jeremy would be praying for rain. Coming from Ireland he probably has webbed feet. |

The US AMA will run just about every track except Sears Point in the Rain. There have traditionally been some drainage issues and the stuff the use on the dragstrip portion of the track becomes like ice when wet. Having ridden several tracks in the rain, including Sears Point, I support their decision. At the same time, many of the issues have been cured and they did an informal survey in the rider's meeting about whether or not people would like to run in the rain. The death blow was that none of the tire vendors brought any rain tires and for 16.5 inch wheels, all they had was slicks. Vik |

Blake sez: "Jimi, Jeremy is standing next to Glen Veach in the 2nd pic above." Thanks, but I know what Jeremy looks like...I was talking about the guy in the first photo (Shawn?), and how large he was for a racer guy in comparison to McWilliams, who is the perfect size to ride a racebike. Shawn looks more like my size! I wish Shawn the best of luck regardless of what size he is. I hope he gets the bike dialed in for him in time...I would think that the Ohlins rep at the track could easily get the right springs on the bike for him. Jimidan |

Jeremy went out with an ignition problem, no spark, cause currently not diagnosed. The bike started to miss on the last 4 laps before it quit, and he lost ground during those laps on 7th place -- he had been gaining before. Very frustrating, but the Daytona driveline problems were vanquished, and we're moving forward. It will continue to get faster; expect to see more XBRRs at Road America. |
