is it just a matter of switching rear spring and fork loads...or is it more involved than that? Any insight would be appreciated. |

the seat would be the easiest thing to change "mechanically" |

Check out this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/175845.html I think that you don't need to change the triple clamp if you get fork legs off of a 2003 or 2004...the 2005 standard height XB's have larger diameter fork tubes; the 03 & 04 bikes have the same diameter tubes whether a Low or not. DaveS can get you a list of parts. In addition to the seat, the kickstand will also need changed. Good luck, Bill |

I have an SL, and somebody please correct me if I am wrong....the SL and S differ by two inches. One inch is in the seat and the other is in the mechanical workings of the bike (forks, springs, etc, etc). You can get one inch bake by changing the seat. Now hold up your hand in front of your face, with your thumb and index finger spread them until a one inch gap appears. Now ask your self, do you want to spend all of that money on parts and time to gat back one inch??? I suspect that if did do the modifications, you would never be able to tell a significant difference. I struggled with the same question as well. I am 5-11 and about 185. My SL fitts me nice. All I plan to do is pick up a Corbin, get my one inch back and call it good. The other inch will cost too much and and is labor intensive. |

i changed my sl into a sl lightning bolt....the firebolt seat feels way better...just swap out the seat and be done with it...not worth the money or the effort to gain an inch Bob |
