Just dropping in and saying hi. I will be heading that way in June for a visit. I may or may not be bringing my bike. I have an interview with the Farmers Branch P.D. Yep, I'm retiring from the Corps and looking at being a LEO. My wife and I have been online checking out the area and she will be coming with me to get a closer look. We're looking at other areas, but we are really hoping this one works out and that we get to move there. We're both looking forward to it. I hope I get the chance to meet ya'll. |

Well after much fanfair I am back in the good ole D/FW area. I just wanted to drop a line and let everyone know that I am available for a ride any time in the next two months or so. I don't have to go back to work until June. I plan on doing some riding today and taking advantage of the cooler weather. I will be taking the wife to Ireland for two weeks starting next Wednesday, but aside from that I am free. P.S. How is the Brag chapter coming. |

I'd love to go with you again sometime, Chris. But the weekends are pretty much out for me. I make it a point to do something fun with Emma every Saturday morning, and Sundays are dedicated to family time. With the exception of a Friday here and there on the XB, the only time I ride anymore is on the track. Track days are usually held on a Friday or Monday. So I'll bounce the question back at all of you... Who's up for a ride (on the track)? I just did the 3.1 mile course at MSR yesterday. The new section has 70 feet of elevation change. It's incredible. That place is great for the soul! |

Dago, I think I asked this before but what did you think of RideSmart, and compare to Lone Star Track Days and any others you have tried. |

I really prefer the RideSmart days. Their track marshal, Mike Daily, and owner, Dave Wonders, run a well oiled machine. And what's really nice is that their instructors aren't arrogant in the least. It's been my experience that they will stop and talk to you without hesitation or impatience. Whatsmore, you always see the same instructors. There seems to be little turnover. There's a free lunch (hamburgers and hotdogs) cooked by Dave's wife and huge ice chests full of bottled water free for the taking. At MSR, I've always seen a tire provider and a suspension guy on hand. The prices are excellent. I had my suspension tweaked on all day long for $20. The only other track I've been to with this school is TWS. I just don't remember if there was a tire guy there or not. It sure would be great to see some of the ole' Buell crew again. I'll be doing the June 19th day at MSR for sure. http://www.ridesmart.info |

Sorry about that Derek and Jonny. We were in a rush to get the dates set and didn't give anyone much notice...this month. BUT...now the exciting news! Go to the TNT web site (thunderbikes.org) and check out the calendar. We have scheduled the third Saturday of EVERY MONTH for a regular get together and ride - lemme say that again - we're riding EVERY MONTH on the third Saturday, and half of those will be LONG! AND, just so our friends who work on Saturday aren't left out, we'll have long Sunday rides in alternating months! Here's the whole story... EVERY MONTH we'll meet and ride for AT LEAST 2-4 hours, and on alternating months those rides will be longer(5 hours or longer). In those months where we take a short ride on Saturday, we'll take a longer ride on Sunday! So - here's the breakdown... In Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, and Nov, we'll have a short ride on Saturday, and a long ride on Sunday. In Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, and Dec, we'll have a long ride on Saturday. And remember, these are always on the third weekend of the month. Still confused? Go to thunderbikes.org and stay informed! |

OK - here's your chance to join Thunderbikes of North Texas, and if you hurry, we're giving you TWO ways to save a little money at the same time! All you need to do is get your name, address, phone number, and BRAG number to TNT Secretary, David Chapman (aka Big Dave - david.chapman @ turbochef.com). If you're not a current member of BRAG, call BRAG at 888-432-BRAG and get current! Now, here's where the $$$ saving comes in: 1. When you join TNT you'll receive a "cash back" discount card for parts, service, and apparel at Buell of Dallas in Allen! But, this offer won't last forever! 2. As an added incentive, if you get signed-up before June 1, you'll PAY NO TNT DUES FOR 2006! (OK, so it's only saving you $5, but that'll buy a couple gallons of gas...almost!) If you're already a BRAG member but you've not yet sent your info to David, do it before June 1 to get in on the "cash back/no dues" action! If you missed out on the June 1 deadline, you can still join TNT and get the cash-back discount by joining, but don't wait too long - this offer only applies to those of you currently on our email list (you know who you are). After this, only those who purchase a new Buell from the Allen store will be eligible to get the card. So, join today! |

Don’t take your Buell to American Eagle. They had my bike for 15 days and couldn’t find why it was knocking. I told them about the flywheel sprocket nut and directed them to Dago’s repairs last year. They kept calling me and complaining about my air box and rerouted breather tubes. Finally they told to me to come get it, there was nothing they could do. I took it straight to Dallas HD in Allen and they found it and repaired it right away. Yep, the flywheel sprocket nut came loose. Luckily no damage, just torque it to the new specs. |

Those Allen guys are great. They're the ones who rebuilt my motor. I'm glad to hear you caught it in time, Paul. I had thought mine had an oil leak there for a while after the rebuild. I'd find little dribbles of oil here and there. But it turns out it was just a bunch of excess finding it's way down. All is well. Derek and I are doing another track day on the 19th. <hint> <hint> FWIW, the new 3.1 mile track at MSR is perfect for the XB. The new section they just added has no long straights at all. So you'll be able to feel the pull all day long. Face it. We don't live in a twisty land. And each of you have purchased a bike that's purpose built to rail through corners. Why not take a break from searching the back roads for the odd turn here or there and get your newly organized TNT tails out to Cresson? TNT Track Days. I like the sound of that. Hey Buellers!!! Al from American Sport Bike has the exhaust shoot-out posted on the home page. He installed several different pipes on the XB9 and XB12, also ran them with and without the race ECM. Check out the results. |
