If you mean satellite store as in it is owned by Topeka HD yes. Correct again that it will not be as large as Central South or Gails, but Lawerance is a much smaller town. But this will be a BUELL and Harley Davidson dealership. Yes both brands will be there, just think of this as being the same type of dealership you would expect to see in a small town. In my experience the smaller dealerships are better then the large ones as far as customer service goes. I have a few really good stories from last years trip about a few of the smaller dealerships I stopped at for on the road work or just to stop in and see the store. They are planning on having 15 employee's and a few will be moving from the Topeka store. The store will be in two existing buildings which will be combined into one and a dyno will be on location. They are going to be putting a lot into the Buell brand at this store. Mike the owner of Topeka HD is a former racer, raced with Jason Pridmore (races for the Jordan team in superbike) when he was growing up. Topeka was also the first dealership to sell Buell motorcycles in the World, so maybe a showing from Erik himself is a possibillity. I personally think this will be great for us Bueller's. Topeka had lost touch with it's Buell base but is going to work really hard to become one of the best Buell dealerships in the US again. Just say in the few meetings that Larry and I have had with Mike we have been really impressed with the investment in Buell that Mike is making and the plans he has in the future. |

"a little too much time on ones hands?" No Kidding! The guy should be getting his stuff packed up, so he can go riding this weekend. No, instead he's surfing the net killing time. |

It does not have to be Gails, just a parking lot south, thought Gails would be easy. |

Come on guys...you know I want to go! But leaving the weekend before the big move would put me on the coals for a LONG time. If you guys were doing it a few weeks later, I could just meet you there. Bad timing, sorry! |

Oh ya I don't think meeting at Gail's is a problem for anyone, that is where we met for the last ride a bunch of us all went, just because we won't spend our green backs there doesn't mean we won't use their parking lot as a meeting place. I could care less at least. Sounds like a fun trip though, don't worry I think there are going to be a few trips planned for AR this year. |

Look out for cops in Grand Cherokees! I had one following me on my way to work today. I didn't even realize it was a cop till he had been behind me for a while apparently trying to pull me over. He thought I was trying to run from him, so I just said "Why would I have pulled over if I was trying to run?" So he told me that if he wasn't on his way to court he would have a car come pick me up and tow my bike. Then he came back and told me that bikers that ride like I do, die doing what I was doing and then let me go. Good thing he went back to his Jeep to run my ID and cool off! I thought I was going to end up in cuffs on my way to work, but instead I ended up just riding off. Good thing I didn't ride any wheelies! |

Well, sorry to disappoint, but I have to bow out on the AR trip too. I am in the middle of a house-buying ordeal. Lucky for me, we are only moving from our current coordinates at N38 47.862' W094 54.618' over to N38 47.875' W094 55.003' (a distance of approximately 2,112 feet). I had been planning to go on the trip. I have been gearing up for months, but this house thing has me tied down. |

Lee, Drake already used that house buying moving line on us. Couldn't you come up with something original. LOL Looks like I need to go buy some more Gumby's to be stand ins for all you guys with excuses. |

We moved to KC last year from Wichita and were immediately sticker-shocked. It took us 18 months in a rented duplex with three kids, a dog, some fish, and a cat to get over that shock and make the plunge. Besides, I can't let a little trip to AR stand in the way of my wife's desire to work me into an early grave by saddling me with a heaping helping of the American dream. |

I was probably cruising at about 80-85 and moving through traffic. He had every reason to pull me over, and he could have been a real jerk if he wanted to be. He thought I was running because I was tucked under the screen as much as possible concentrating on what was in front of me not behind me. He said he had been chasing me for a while and that he thought I was running because of the way I was weaving through the traffic. Once I explained that I pulled over as soon as I saw his lights and that I had noticed a Jeep behind me, but that I had not seen the flashing lights he settled down a little. I think he was a Marshall or something. He had a really small silver badge attached to his belt that was a star with a circle around it. I didn't notice which state the Jeep was registered in. Long and short of the story was that I was hauling ass on 435, and he thought I was running from him. He said that he had been a bike cop for four years, and that it did seem like I hadn't seen him because my speed didn't change from the time he first saw me. I asked him why he thinks I would pull over if I was running, and if he thought that I would try to run from a cop doing 85, and he saw my point. I've never seen anyone try to run from the police without hitting the triple digits, and I'm sure he hasn't either. All and all I got really lucky, and I'm going to have to slow it down on the highway. |

NOT BASHING Gails here, just need some information. I'm trying to get a Race ECM from Dave for my '05 XB9SX. His price is $189. I want to give Dave the business, supporting our sponsers and all that... But I need a dealership to set the Race ECM. Dave quoted at .5 hour install (around 40 bucks) is what his dealership would charge for that. I called Central and they agreed that's what they charge for ECM installs but they don't have the software to make it happen. I then called Gail's. Gail's service department wants $210 to install the ECM. What gives? Is Gail's smarter than everyone else and they know how to do it 'right' or am I being taken? Thoughts? By the way, if we're not supposed to have these discussions on this board due to past drama (remember I'm new) then please let me know. Feel free to send me a private message. I'm not wanting to start a fight. I just want information on what's going on. Brent |

Brent, you can talk about whatever you want on this board....Drake had the race ecm installed at Gails so he should be able to chime in here about price...You might want to give Topeka HD a call and see what they can do for ya...785-234-6174 Larry |

Drake? What's the scoop? Gail's said the have to Dyno the bike and run it for a couple of hours to know how to set the ECM and the TPS. |

They charged me a 1/2 hour labor to install the ecm. I also had the 1000 mile service done at the same time. They might not have understood what exactly you want done. I paid about $200 for 1000 miles service, install ECM and TPS reset. |

It should be a straight TPS reset and you're done. I have never heard of anyone having to get a dyno run after the race ECM install. If you do the Direct Link set-up from American Sport Bike, it will require several runs on the dyno as I understand it. I would expect to pay around $70 for the race ECM and TPS reset job at Gail's. |

This is actually getting funny at this point. Here's the deal: If I get all of Drake's information (full name, bike make/model/year, the date of his service) so that Gail's can look it up then they will 'match' that price. What a joke. We all must be lying... With that said, Drake, are you willing to play? I'm just interested to see if Gail's will honor that statement. |

I looked up Drake's profile. I need to meet Drake. We're the same age, have the same kind of job and have the same exact bike. Weird. I called Gail's gave them the information and they looked up his service. All I hear on the other end of the phone is "ummmmm, can we call you back. I need to find Bobbie again." We'll see what they say. (Message edited by Streetfightercityx on May 16, 2006) |

Yes, they do. They found your service and realized I wasn't on crack. They still didn't have an answer on why they want $200 for a $40 job. |
