EZ - The furthermost back tab was the one I was looking at - with rear sets I still don't think there is enough room for 2 sets of feet.

In re: to the BMX bike peg/axel idea -- has anyone tried that on the blast??

I looked at it last night, and it seems do-able. If you run a peice of 3/8inch or maybe 5/16 (I haven't measured the inside diameter of the rear axel) threaded steel directly through the rear axel, and mount foot pegs to that.
BMX foot pegs apparently completely replace the axel nuts on bicycles, but the axels for bicycles are significally smaller in diameter than motorcycle axels - so that method, though better, won't work.
You could use BMX pegs if a 3/8 threaded bar will fit through the hollow axel... They wouldn't fold up though.

of course they won't fold....thats why you just grind the bottom edges off with a convenient street corner >:P |

You can always use a piece of allthread and some universal folding type, I know that there are some that will thread onto 3/8"-24 studs. All you would need if 24" of allthread and a pair of pegs and some sheet metal to bend up a little tab to keep them from turning. |

That's what I was considering. My only concern was that the allthread would fatigue or otherwise negativly affect the interior of the axel, especially if you tighten each side down...
I was planning on making sure a 3/8 allthread would fit inside the axel tonight.
Sadly I'm not going to buy rear-sets until this winter at the earliest, so all this is rather pre-mature... |

Unless you have big feet, there is plenty of room for rearsets and passenger pegs.
I like the rod through the rear axle idea,hadnt thought of that!
Plenty of Harleys & other makes (especially older bikes) mount the p-pegs to the swingarm. You can drill the swingarm for pegs but you will need a spacer (inside) to keep the swingarm tube from crushing.You could also have the mounts welded on.
I'm not so sure I like mounting them to the existing swingarm tabs as the first time you go over RR tracks and your passengers raises of the seat they may fail.(and the last thing you want to do is explain to your wife that the reason she fell off was due to your unique non stock footpegs!) |

Seems pretty sturdy to me - they where not easy to cut off and the grinding of those welds where totally solid all the way down to the swing arm - good on Buell for such solid welds - wouldn't of brought it up if I thought it would break - now if the side force where enough it could probably bend the tab but that would be considerable - you could probably reinforce it by using a large washers to the front and back part of the peg mounting to spread forces - just a thought.

Yes, there are locking gas caps. Try a cap from a 2000 Buell X1 or S3. I'm not sure about the M2 cap, I think that they didn't have locking caps... |

So what are some of the options for replacing the plastic license plate holder? No matter what i do it flops around and besides it looks silly! I was thinking of sheetmetal or something? |

Remove it completely and bolt your license plate to the back of your seat pan like I did.  |

Chop the tail up and mount a piece of stainless to the taillight. That is what I did. It cleaned it up pretty good. Then I just moved my turn signals forward to the rear tiedown spots. |

Naustin do you have any close-up's of your plate mounting because I'm planning to move to that setup?
I did the same thing as Jugallo but minus the stainless. Just dremeled the plastic away leaving only the mounting holes for the plate. It isn't reinforced in anyway but could be pretty easily if you wanted. But it doesn't flap around when riding even at 95mph. It does shake a little going over RR tracks but I rarely cross tracks here and it's not a violent shake that would worry me about hurting the mounting points.

My buddy has a X1 and quite a few small parts match. I want to try an X1 fly screen it looks like it will bolt up and it is taller then the stock Blast one. It might improve wind deflection. |

The holes are reportedly different, but they're easy to drill and the fairing will bolt right up. The X1 racing fairing bolts right up to the Blast mount, but I've heard the stocker (with the headlight cut out) doesnt match up (easy fix). (see my profile pic if thats the fairing you're talking about). |

I just bought a replacement rear subframe and it came with some brackets that I can't identify what they came with/are used for. Can anyone enlighten me?
