The oil pump drive pinion gear you mean? Not to be nosey, but why on earth wouldn't you use the new race part? Thats a lot of work to get in there and replace it (unless you get creative and take some risks with the rocker box spring pressure). I would imagine any Harley dealer would sell you a sportster part... The original one was only like $14 or so as I recall. I have a used operational pull sitting here on my desk at work as I type this, but I promise you *DON'T* want it on your bike. |

well, i got a 2001 motor and i bought the SE 536 cams and spring kit for a 99 down. (its either 99 or 2000 down) when i bought the cam kit, i didnt think there was a difference...i thought it was like 94 up to present or something, i didnt realize that they changed the pinion gear in 2000... so, to make the cams work, i need the older pinion gear. i think the new race pinion gear is for 2000 up...anyone know? thanks for the input! jh |

Reep, He needs a pinion gear not an oil pump drive gear. Two different things. The pinion gear drives the cams and go on the outside of the oil pump drive gear. Older models used coarse pitch gears, newer ones fine pitch. he needs a coarse pitch. |
