And the rain continues............... I'm headed up to Laconia this year. That is if I don't turn my Firebolt into a boat with this rain. |

I do have the manual. I was just wondering what I was in for. I was cranking some wheelies when I got out of work and got on the highway for my commute home. I wasn't doing anything stupid on the highway and was traveling in the left lane going with traffic. I looked down (rookie mistake) to see how fast traffic was moving and my oil light was on. Needless to say this kept my eyes off the road for a second longer. When I looked up the car in front of me had slammed on the brakes pretty hard. I was really close when I hit the brakes and ended up just missing the car in front of me but flipping over because I hit the brakes so hard.. (another rookie mistake) I tell ya the front brake on this bike works great. I would have rearended the car in front of me if I didn't flip over so either way I was screwed. Moral of the story: 4 broken ribs, shattered collar bone (all on the right side) and 2 broken toes (left side) bruised ego. Broken toes you ask? I flipped over so hard that when I flew off the bike my toes snapped the end of the shifter right off. I couldn't figure out how I broke me toes until I saw my shifter and it was just a nub. |

Are you sure about that?? It's good too hear that you and your bike survived to ride another day, though I'd hate to be around you when you do do something stupid! Welcome and ride safe. Maybe I will see you at Laconia..... |

I wasn't pulling wheelies on the highway but on a sidestreet BEFORE I got onto the highway. I was explaining the wheelie thing because I believe that was the reason my oil light came on. I am a pretty safe rider. I don't mess around on the highway, especially during rushhour traffic. I've been riding a streetbike for about 15 years and this was my first accident on a bike. |

Damnut, In that kind of traffic do you ride with two fingers or so draped over the brake lever? For me, that is the secret to not grabbing too much braking too quickly. With your fingers already there you can get some pressure on quickly and gently and then increase it as needed. I probably wouldn't have the fingers there if I were working on wheelies. But I wouldn't be doing that in traffic either. If I were ever going to work on wheelies at all. I think I've outgrown them. :> I have not gotten the back end of my M2 up under braking yet and don't really want to. But I love the amount of braking power I have on the M2, would not want to ride with any less. Jack |

Hi Jack, Thanks for the advise. By the time I looked up I was screwed either way. It was that quick. I looked down to see how fast I was going, noticed the oil light on, thought in my head WTF? looked up and crashed. It was just a combination of bad luck, bad timing and my unfortunate mistake of hitting the brake a little too hard. I'm just glad and lucky that I'm not talking to this guy --> As always I'm headed up to Laconia late Tuesday (6/13) afternoon after work and head home on Sunday (6/18) I'm staying in Franklin/Tilton. Anyone going to the hillclimb or going on the run to the top of Mt. Washington? |

i agree. very quiet, almost dead! has this guy been busy? i rode today but made it home just as the skies opened up. then got a second ride in after the storm. it was very nice to ride again. all this rain gave ma a chance to get the bike cought up on some other projects. will be installing Direct link this week on the bike,(should get ups delivery in the morning) should run much better. Al set me up w/ a map that will work for my setup, can't wait!............we should make plans for a ride soon, i am always up for a good ride and i ride very often. maybe some others will chime in for the ride also, but it seems to always fall through. any suggestions for a ride there zack? maybe a beach ride this weekend? i'm all ears for anything. LETS RIDE! |

I road a couple of hundred miles this weekend, but I stayed within about 20 miles of home. that way I could and did head home as soon as the rain started. I'm blessed with many good rodes within that distance, so it wasn't a bad thing! The rain did let me finally install the upgraded primary tensioner, upgraded primary gasket and seal and change the oil though.... there is a picture from Saturday on the coast over in the tube section under "S3 photo contest" |

When I was in HS we used to drag race in the parking lot at Horseneck off season. But that was 35+ years ago. If this weekend is a washout I will get to spend it with the grand kids. They live very near to there.

my bike is at precision. I hope to have it back today or tomorrow, they called me yesterday and said they were working on it. Even if I don't get it back in time for Sunday I have a few bikes at my disposal so I can still ride. |
