Hello, I just became a member today! I have been riding motorcycles for about 6 years. I have owned a Yamaha r6, gsxr-1000. I moved from California to Illinois in October of 05 and sold my motorcycle. I started looking at bikes about a week ago and I went to a Harley Davidson dealership. One of the people working there had a Buell Firebolt. I asked him about it and he took me outside and started it up!! I loved the sound of this bike. He had the race kit on it and the bike looked great. So I started looking for a Firebolt. Well I found one and purchased it today. I still have to register it so I won’t get to ride it until sometime next week. I hope that I made a good decision on the bike. It is a 03 Buell Firebolt xb9r. It has the stage 1 race kit on it. What do you guys think about me going from an r6, gsxr1000 to a Firebolt? I know I won’t have the speed I used to but I am hoping this bike will be just as fun. One more question will I be able to hang with an r6 or any other 600cc sportbikes with the race kitted Firebolt? Not that it really matters just was curious. Well I hope to enjoy the wind in my face along with you fellow Buell owners!! |

Congrats on the purchase! I have an '03 Firebolt too. As for your questions, I think the transition to a Firebolt will be an easy one. Make SURE you adjust the suspension properly. That is very important. If the bike still has Dulops on it, replace them as soon as you can. Scorpion Syncs and Metzelers are very popular with the guys here. Pilot Powers as well. You will be shocked how much better it handles just by doing these two little things. As far as hanging with 600cc bikes, in the long run, flat out on the highway, they will leave you behind. However, stoplight to stoplight you will get your revenge teaching them the truth about torque! The riders of those bikes might all give you a hard time for buying a Buell, but they will also be asking to ride it! |

You won't be Sorry. Where do you want to go fast. I love the Twisty back roads. If you are wanting to Drag race or Loose your License while killing someone, Buy a second bike. The buell will be the bike you always return to. Congrat's on your Purchase of a Very RARE Bike. An 03 will be worth some money on day. the First of the XB's. Welcome to the Family. |

"....will I be able to hang with an r6 or any other 600cc sportbikes with the race kitted Firebolt?" I think you will be okay if you sandbag it a little in the corners, you shouldn't get to far ahead of them and they will be able to hang with the guy on the cool Buell. |

Hey thanks for the warm welcome! You guys have great insight about the Firebolt. I cant wait to get it out! Also I need to get the back foot pegs does anyone know where I can get them with the bracket so my wife can ride? I guess the guy that had it did not want anyone to ride on it. |

You looking for rear footpegs for an 03 XB9R? Get me your address and for the cost of shipping, I'll UPS you mine that I took off my racebike. Email me at: steve dot slaughter ("at") lmco (dot) com Welcome to the Buell community! (and use premium pump gas - 91 octane is just fine. I'd never gotten mine to ping in 5K miles on the street here in the Desert - before it became a racebike - but one time I screwed up and started putting in regular before I caught my mistake - and with half-and-half regular/premium, I did get pinging) (Message edited by slaughter on May 12, 2006) |

shoot me an email to the above address with your shipping address and I can get them out to you after I get home next week. Note: I'm out of town in Texas - won't be back home to CA until next week so you can't have them until I ship in about a week. If you need them sooner, I might not be able to get them to you before then. They're in a box in storage and don't think I can call Sunny and have her find the box they're in. |

welcome to the Bad Web. quick story out riding with a bunch of Buellers and one guy showed up wanting to join in the fun on a Yamaha FZ6. great guy fun riding with him. when we were done riding he said "straights, no problem keeping up, but ya'll smoked me in the corners" something like that. not to insult your riding experience at all but please respect the torque of the engine and the power of the front brake. these bike are a total different monster from the imports. another quick story last weekend at the Buell Demo Ride one guy panicked and grabbed the front brake like there was no tomorrow, he layed the bike down. he's ok and the bike is "ok" no major damage. oh yeah change the oil every 2500 miles. |
