To those of you who are subscribers to motorcycle.com, there's a member who's posting a question as to which bike he should buy - an XB9 or a Suzook SV 650. The advice he's been given leans heavily toward the Buell. Lots of the responses list the XB's "cool" factor and all-around better performance, even though it does cost a bit more. Here's a link, but you might have to subscribe to open it. http://news.motorcycle.com/article.motml?sid=3893 |

Someone at least let that last poster know that the controls are the same that you will find on a Ducati... |

TOTALLY anecdotal...but the crash i was in this past weekend at the track was with an SV650. ignoring the superficial damage of scrapes and such - both of our bikes were accidentally left running on their sides for 10-15 minutes (until practice session was over and cornerworker could come help) while we waited off by the trees. his engine seized. mine seems to be running fine. in talking to people, it seems that sv650s have an issue with their oil pump that is much less tolerant of such shenanigans. your mileage may vary, D |

Dunno. Having raced BOTH an SV and an XB9 - I'd almost have to say the XB crashes better. I've crashed the XB harder without really bad damage and have had milder crashes on the SV and have bent then broken the frame. Maybe I'll go sign up and post there - or one of you could point them here?? |
